From the hotbed of heavy music that is NoLa, one-man doom juggernaut Sif is set to deliver its second album of massive, ten-ton riffs on September 27th.

Drawing from the well of low and slow doom, wall-of-sound drone, and with some blackened edges to boot, »Aegis Of The Hollowed King« lays down four slabs of titanic metal. Melancholy in atmosphere and crushing in tone, Sif’s new opus is a standard bearer for oppressive heavy music, dragging its audibly impressive weight to trudge through the darkness, a sonic journey visually captured in its album art. Don your armor and ready your blade, for doom is nigh.

In the band’s own words:

“The primary concept of Sif is inspired by the world of Dark Souls, the idea of a slowly decaying world that struggles to survive but ultimately is doomed to fail. The music of Sif obviously has no lyrics, but I try to channel that in the composition, with the slow chugging riffs and repetition that just barely holds together at times. With »Aegis«, I was inspired by the character Velstadt The Royal Aegis, a doomed knight, sworn to protect a king who has long since become nothing more than a mere shell of humanity, he has gone “hollow”. It’s a melancholy ideas, but heroic at the same time, not to get too serious about it. Ultimately, I try to get all these idea across with nothing more than huge fucking riffs, low and slow. The riffs of Bongripper, the drones of Sunn, the worldview of Thou.”

“»Aegis« is the second (»Darkstalker« being the first) album in a theoretical trilogy of instrumental doom metal records. »Darkstalker« was based conceptually on Dark Souls 1, »Aegis« on Dark Souls 2, and the next will be based on Dark Souls 3. All music is still in the demo stage at this point, but a third record is expected sometime in the future. As of now, Sif is a solo record, so no tour dates or live shows are planned, but I am exploring the opportunity to possibly do a few one off shows in the New Orleans area. In the meantime, I will be recording and playing live shows with my other band Fen Magus.”

All digital sales received through 10/11 will be donated to the Palestinian Children’s Relief Fund.
