Warped Cross… is just the thing for fans of dirty, psychedelic doom metal. However, Warped Cross doesn’t see itself as a pure doom band. Their musical influences span from cult acts like Type O Negative and Monster Magnet to Down, Electric Wizard, Darkthrone, and Pentagram.

On December 12, 2025, Warped Cross released their new album »Dreaming Machine« via Daredevil Records.

Across seven new tracks, the »Dreaming Machine« steamrolls its way into your brain with uncompromising heaviness and emotional darkness. Grooving, hook-laden riffs, crushing drums, and multifaceted vocals shift seamlessly, over a runtime of 29:35 minutes, between raw sludgecore aggression and psychedelic comfort.

The album was recorded at the band’s own studio in Chemnitz, deliberately avoiding modern tools like drum triggers, drum replacers, and vocal pitch correction to keep the sound as authentic and raw as possible. Mixing was done with Hilmar Habrom at Larox Studio Chemnitz, and mastering was handled by Roland Wiegner at Tonmeisterei Oldenburg. The artwork, designed by guitarist Michael, perfectly reflects the purist nature of the music.

With »Dreaming Machine«, the band delivers the perfect soundtrack for the darker moods of our times.

Warped Cross was founded in 2008 in Zschopau, Saxony, initially as a studio project by ex-Subversion members Mike Mehner (vocals) and Michael Schaarschmidt (drums, guitar), who took the crushing weight of Subversion’s sound and added new dimensions to it. Although the first songs were released online only, the desire to bring their feverish, angry heavy doom to the stage quickly grew. Joined by Oliver Müller (ex-Subversion, bass), Lennart Hans (guitar) and André Schulze (drums), the band became a live force.

In 2010, the band released their 7-inch »Whereever I May Doom« on their own label Demon Spawn Records, followed by the full-length »Abbot Of Unreason« in 2016 via Daredevil Records, and »Rumbling Chapel« in 2020 through Black Sunset / MDD Records. The band went on to share stages with the likes of Crowbar, Karma To Burn, Spancer, Obelyskkh, Ufo, Steak Number Eight, Purification, Eyehategod, and many others.
