Tokyo, Japan based old school death/doom metal band Heteropsy (feat. members of Frostvore) has reissued their debut album »Embalming« on limited edition vinyl on March 6th, 2026 via Hammerheart Records.

From the shadows of Japan’s underground: guttural HM-2 doom/death metal!

Heteropsy’s »Embalming« is out now on vinyl. Limited edition of 300 copies in Black Smoke Vinyl and a obi-strip, shipping early March 2026. Order HERE.

Tokyo based death/doom metal band Heteropsy was formed in 2020 after Swedish-style death metal band Frostvore went into hibernation. Former Frostvore members Shigenori Tamura and Koki Fukushima started a new doom metal project.

After several lineup changes, the band solidified with Kota Maruyama and Hiroki Sato. Heteropsy actively perform live shows mainly in Tokyo while also composing new material. In 2025 they recorded their first album »Embalming« at Void)))Lab, Tokyo, with engineer Ryuhi Inari (known for work with Coffins and Church Of Misery).

Together they created a sound endlessly dark, rugged, dusky yet mournful, featuring the legendary HM-2 chainsaw tone.

»Embalming« introduces Heteropsy’s styles from the Far East to the world: a mix of old school death metal (Autopsy, Dismember, Rippikoulu, Coffins), sometimes doom, sometimes horns up, sometimes ambient, always with a melancholic and soulful edge.
