From the icy underground of Reykjavík, a new force is ripping through the metal and punk scenes. The Invid have dropped their self-titled debut album on January 30th, 2026, a full-throttle collision of thrash metal, punk, d-beat, hardcore, and death metal.
Formed in September 2024 by multi-instrumentalist Kristján B. Heiðarsson (Vetur, Drungi, ex-Kookaveen) and powerhouse vocalist Mik Annetts (ex-Bastard, ex-Under The Church, ex-Kookaveen), The Invid channel an unrelenting energy that’s impossible to pin down. “The Invid is a grand mixture of influences to the point that it is hard to locate on the genre map, but fast and relentless are the key words,” the band explains.
Recorded with studio wizard Helgi Durhuus at Stúdíó Helvíti, Reykjavík, the album captures raw aggression with precision, pairing chaotic riffs with punishing rhythms. The artwork by Frossty and layout by Sigvaldi Ástríðarson complete a package that’s as visually striking as it is sonically devastating. Additional vocals on »Silence Is Compliance« by Marín Ósk Hafnadóttir, Magnús Addi Ólafsson and Helgi Durhuus.
The Invid are already charging forward with a new EP planned for 2026 and a full-length album on the horizon for 2027. Live shows are in the works, with a full band lineup being assembled to bring their brutal hybrid sound to the stage.
