The Cross: Pioneers of in Brazil

Founded in 1990 by Eduardo “Slayer” in Lauro de Freitas, Bahia, The Cross is recognized as Brazil’s first doom metal band.

Their 1993 demo »The Fall« gained international recognition through Adipocere, Holy Records, and Moribund Records. After a hiatus in 1998, the band returned in 2015 with the EP »Flames Through Priests« and released the acclaimed self-titled album »The Cross« in 2017. In 2019, the EP »Still Falling« and the addition of guitarist Daniel Fauaze bolstered their prominence.

In 2020, they released the DVD »Live Endless Fall« and the single »Unnatural«. In 2021, the EP »Reverencing The Eternal Icons«.

The album »Act II: Walls Of The Forgotten« (2022), featuring guests like Albert Bell (Forsaken, Nomad Son, Sacro Sanctus) and Aaron Stainthorpe (ex-My Dying Bride, High Parasite).

Following the loss of drummer Louis in 2022, the band released the EP »Requiescit In Pace Frater Noster« (2023).In 2023, they performed at festivals like Doom Over Darkside and Palco do Rock and appeared in international compilations. In 2024, they led a tribute to Saturnus. In 2025, they released »Leviathan’s Lament« and »The Fever Sea II« with notable collaborations.

They are currently working on singles »Cycle of Suffering (Samsara Wheel)« and »Apocrypha«, featuring David Shankle (ex-Manowar) and others.

Legacy: With over 30 years, The Cross remains a cornerstone of doom metal, blending pioneering spirit, international collaborations, and new compositions.
