Italian doom metal band Sorrowtale releases lyric video for »Epistle No. 81«, their reinterpretation of Candlemass classic

Italian heavy doom metal band Sorrowtale releases their single »Epistle No. 81« today.
The band – which includes members of Madvice, Meursault Omega, and The Füse – has reinterpreted the classic Candlemass song from the 1988 album »Ancient Dreams«.
»Epistle No. 81« – »Märk hur vår skugga« (Mark Our Shadow), was composed in 1790 by Carl Michael Bellman for the funeral of Bellman’s acquaintance, the wife of Grälmakar Löfberg, and performed at the “Sterbhuset vid Dantobommen,” the house of mourning on Dantobommen near Stockholm. The song is one of the most famous episodes from »Fredman’s Epistles«.
To celebrate the single’s release, Sorrowtale created a lyric video, which can be viewed HERE.
Vocalist Asator comments: “I’ve always been a huge fan of Candlemass. I absolutely love the atmosphere they’ve created, and I have enormous respect for all the talented singers who have been part of the band over the years: performing one of their songs is always a challenge!”
Bassist Cliff comments: “Ah, for me, »Epistle No. 81« is one of those songs that stays with you forever. I’ve always thought and hoped to one day be able to reinterpret it. It’s a touching song, and I find Cornelis Vreeswijk’s acoustic version wonderful, too. I hope listeners will find ours interesting, too.”
The single »Epistle No. 81« was mixed by Maddalena Bellini and released independently by the band.
The single can be heard on all major streaming services HERE and on Bandcamp HERE.
