»Swarming Flies« focuses on mental health issues, particularly overthinking and intrusive thoughts. This song is based on personal experience where I’d go through periods of time where I felt like I had no control over my own thoughts. It felt like I was being suffocated and that there was no escape from them. Although the lyrics are about a pretty dark subject, the song itself shifts mood halfway through. Going from dark to light, uplifting and giving a real sense of freedom in the same way my thoughts can suddenly lift and shift to a more positive mindset.
