Billy Rudin is a psychedelic stoner/doom metal band from Pilsen, Czech Republic. Established in late 2021, 3 guys bored to death decided to make a band with their limited instrument skills and no music backround. The trio consists of Matěj Pašek (guitar, vocals), Jindra Sejkr Sýkora (bass) and Martin Gaži (drums).

Billy Rudin’s latest album »There Is Silence Between The Words« was just released on March 24th, 2025. Recorded by Miki Hank at Dead Zeus Sound. Album art by Sany Ink.

Can you please say a few words about your band?
3 piece band situated in west part of Czech Republic. Band started, exists and will exist only as our personal relieve from daily life. Initially we started jamming only to get the apetite for a beer. Later on we found out it sort of makes sense and went public. But with the idea of keeping it real, keeping it low. Having a good time.

What was the biggest challenge for the band?
To overcome our music differences. Drummer listens to hip hop, metalcore, bass player usual stoner stuff and me, I listen to mellow music. I think it can be seen and heard in our music.

What can you be most proud of so far?
That we are still together, having a good time, making fun of each other. We are just best friends who are lucky enough to have a band.

What was your biggest regret?
Can’t tell for band as such but for me personally its the lack of time for band itself. Each of us are moving on with life and it’s hard to coop with the fun stuff in it.

What was the best concert/tour so far and why?
Can’t tell either. I equally love to play for 1 person or for 100. I know it’s a chliché, but there is a reason for it. I take the band as a hobby, I dont want to win prices, earn money or else. Thats something I wish I will never change.

What was the biggest surprise on the music scene for you?
How people, especially in stoner environment, tend to take themselves very seriously. I know this is something many people wouldnt or wont agree with but i met mostly bands full of shit and unhealthy state of their ego. Its music, its fun for fuck sakes. Scene is slowly growing, yeah, but not anywhere near to be popular…

What is currently in your heavy musical rotation?
Spaceslug (my personal favourite band of all time), absolutely everything from Kris Peters, late Naxatras, easier synth psyche music in general.

What was the best advice you’ve ever been given as a musician?
Don’t tune down – and I did not listen.

What are your guilty pleasures?
League of legends, after 15 years of playing I am still hard stuck gold.

Can you say something more about the current music scene in Pilsen?
From where I come, many great bands being formed up. Everytime you would like to see a band, any genre you would wish, you’ll find something. Its healthy I would say.
On the other hand we have been formed during Covid times so we lived through the boom of gigs after everything was relieved, honestly its slowly falling off but its okay. Nothing to be sad about.

Where can we see you live this year (concerts/tours)?
Closest one in Prague on June 5th, 2025 where we will support The Hazytones – I really look forward to it. Apart of that I am not sure. My band tells me where should I be and I am there. ;D

What are your plans for the future as a band?
Evolve the sound we put together on our last album »There Is Silence Between The Words«s. I think we found what we would like to perform and where we feel the most comfortable. Its just something I feel fits me as a person (if I could speak for myself only).

How can people best support your band?
Just listen to music we put out, you don’t need to waste any money, it’s free and everywhere. And if you insist, you can buy our humble merch or invite us for a beer on a gig. As said, we are simply doing it from the love for music, we don’t expect anything for it. And of course, any kind of feedback is always appreciated.

Do you have any message for your listeners?
Cut the negative people out of your life.

Enjoy the little things.

Listen to guitar music.
