Nomadic Reign is a five-piece doom/sludge metal band from the east of England worshipping at the altar of Black Sabbath, Cathedral, Electric Wizard and much more.

Founded in 2017, Nomadic Reign consists of Damien Rogers (vocals), Harry Bellano (bass), Sam Farrington (guitar), Andy Edwards (guitar) and Andrew Bisgrove (drums).

Nomadic Reign have recently released new single and music video »Silent Revolt«, available now on all major streaming platforms.

Can you please say a few words about your band?
We are a doom sludge band from Hertfordshire, UK. We were formed as studio project back in 2017 by myself (Sam) and our old bassist (Jim), mainly because we were bored I guess!! At the end of 2021 we started to get a full band line up together and started playing shows in 2022 and have undergone a couple of line up changes since.

What was the biggest challenge for the band?
The biggest challenge in the beginning was finding other members. Luckily everyone we’ve had in the band both past and present has brought a lot to the band but getting others interested in the first place was a challenge.

What can you be most proud of so far?
We’ve just released our new single »Silent Revolt« and a music video to accompany it which has been very well received so far and a lot of people seem to be listened which we are greatful for. We would like to thank everyone that has supported us, including you at Doomed Nation!!

What was your biggest regret?
This is a tough one. I try not to have too many regrets but use the regrets I do have as a way of pushing forward to better myself. I guess we could have released our latest single sooner as it was a long time coming, but happy it’s out there now.

What was the best concert/tour so far and why?
I’d say the last show we played at Club-85 in Hertfordshire, UK was a good show for us from a crowd perspective, which was a metal 2 the masses show which is a competition to get a slot at Bloodstock Festival. We didn’t get through to the next round but had a good crowd and got a good response and more people seem to be listening to us which is always good.

What was the biggest surprise on the music scene for you?
It’s hard to say as there’s so many good bands out there at the moment. One of the best albums from last year was Blood Incantation – »Absolute Anywhere«. It’s a perfect mix of old school death metal and Pink Floyd style 70s prog and they mix the styles together coherently.

What is currently in your heavy musical rotation?
At the moment the following albums have been getting played a lot:
Opeth – My Arms Your Hearse
Exodus – Bonded By Blood
Conan – Violence Dimension
Froglord – Metamorphosis
Black Sabbath- Masters Of Reality
Blood Incantation – Absolute Anywhere
Miles Davis – In A Silent Way

What was the best advice you’ve ever been given as a musician?
Have passion and believe in what you, enjoy it and don’t lose sight of it. The philosophy of Nomadic Reign has always been that we write music that the 5 of us are happy with and if other people get it great and if they don’t that’s also ok. I think the most important thing is to be real. An audience can tell right away if a band is not feeling what they are doing.

What are your guilty pleasures?
I like mustard with a lot of food, including fish and chips and also partial to adding mustard and sweet chilli sauce to peanut butter on toast. I also don’t mind pineapple on pizza although it wouldn’t be my first choice. In terms of music there’s probably too much to mention. I like a lot of 90s Britpop and 80s synth pop and so much more.

Can you say something more about the current music scene in Hertfordshire?
The music scene where we are from in Hertfordshire is Thriving and has grown a lot in the last 10 years. There are quite a lot of bands in the Doom/Sludge ilk that are worth checking out.

Where can we see you live this year (concerts/tours)?
We currently have two shows confirmed. The Horn, St Albans on the 28th May and The Six Six Bar in Cambridge both UK. We ‘d like to play some more shows throughout the UK and would be good to head to other countries in Europe at some point too.

What are your plans for the future as a band?
Play more shows in places we’ve not played before. We’re in the process of writing a full-length album. All being well we can record it early next year with the aim for a late 2026 or early 2027 release.

How can people best support your band?
We have our single »Silent Revolt« which can be downloaded from our bandcamp page for £1. We also have T-shirts for £10 plus Postage and some old school T-shirts for £5 which we can ship worldwide and can be bought from nomadicreign.bandcamp.com.
