The doom folk of Buzzard returns with new EP »Everything Is Not Going To Be Alright«, out November 7th!

Hot on the heels of this spring’s »Mean Bone« and »Doom Folk« (2024), one-man folk doom metal artist Buzzard pulls no punches with the 7-track EP »Everything Is Not Going To Be Alright«. Both political and personal, the songs speak of modern America with honest outrage and satirical venom. Meanwhile, a cosmic menace looms. Musically, the full-band arrangements mix heavy fuzzed-out riffs with acoustic guitars and classic keyboards.

Woody Guthrie has risen from the grave, and he’s pissed.

In the three decades prior to creating Buzzard, Elliott performed in coffeehouses and church basements around New England as a solo artist and half of male/female duo Austin & Elliott, releasing CDs and winning accolades in the folk genre.

Austin & Elliott has been described as “dark and irreverent… a modern approach through the dark heart of classic country and Appalachian ballads.” (Joltin’ Joe Pszonek, Host of Radio Nowhere). Elliott has been praised for “injecting new, irreverent elements… an original take on folk…” (George Pacheco, CBS Boston’s Best Songwriters).

The growing body of Buzzard music draws on the narrative poetry of Greenwich Village troubadours, the pessimistic philosophy of Thomas Ligotti, the revenge yarns of Tales From The Crypt, the metal of Trouble and Candlemass, and the ironic wit of Bill Hicks and George Carlin.

Created by Christopher Thomas Elliott: vocals, electric and acoustic guitars, bass, drum programming, dobro, keyboards.

Written, produced, and performed by Elliott at home in a basement atop an eldritch hill in Western Massachusetts.

Buzzard in the press:

“What I’ll tell is that I got sent this EP maybe a month ago and I’ve sat with it more than I’ve sat with anything else I’ve listened to this year save for Satiricus Doomicus Americus, which came out in January, and that in the anthemic defiance of »Doom Folk Fury«, I’ve found both catharsis and comfort, and felt a little less alone in the inflicted terrors of this moment.” – JJ Koczan, The Obelisk

“Kickass but culturally relevant.” – Scott Spiers, Clean and Sober Stoner

“Revolutionary and forward thinking…” – Outlaws Of The Sun

“Honest, strange, and totally its own thing — Buzzard is one to watch.”- Helge Neumann, The
Ripple Effect

“Either a genius or deranged. Perhaps both.” – Mr. Mean Green Recommends

“The newest band with a sound that we never knew we needed.” – Headbanger Reviews

“….there is a long tradition of plainish-voiced political troubadours from Woody to Phil that upends the concept of the “performer” and replaces it with the “prophet” or the “conscience”. That’s the tradition that Elliott lives in. And Elliott shows — without showing — that doom is just a part of that.” – Srogi Mroczek, Mephistophilizer
