The tireless riff machine that is California’s Redwood presents a special project this Fall, the two-part EP »Slowlane«. Featuring 6 songs on each release, »Slowlane« sees Redwood shift gears into the realm of retro heavy and psychedelia, leaning slightly away from doomier tendencies and back to the riff rock n’ roll of the debut EP that inspired the project in the first place.
In the band’s own words:
“When I started Redwood, I initially wasn’t shooting for the heaviest doom sound, or something that everyone would worship in the doom scene. In the most humble way, I was just shooting for something that I would like to listen to on a long drive. My songwriting is rooted in 1970s rock ‘n’ roll, that’s what I was raised on, much like the rest of us. I wanted to find something in between that was a mix of me, and my favorite sounds from that era.

They didn’t have the gear that we have nowadays, back then. They had catchy beats, beat up drum sets, blown out amplifiers with standard overdrive channels, and archaic recording equipment. And we ate it up because it sounded incredible, and still does to this day.
I wanted to take a bit of that spirit, and what I’ve learned this far with this recording project, and make something that I can be really proud of.
Two EPs, six songs each, with the same attitude on both of them, to be listened to from start to finish like an old record.
I hope whoever is reading this, enjoys listening to this as much as I enjoyed recording it. I recommend turning it all the way up and taking it with you on a long drive.”
