Doomed Confessionary: Manu (Limonero Fuzz)

Limonero Fuzz is a heavy psych rock band based in Vega Baja, Spain. Known for their atmospheric performances and improvised jam sessions, they released two albums in the form of a live studio session, »Espíritus del Río« (August 2025) and »Hiperstición« (October 2025). The first live session was self-produced (recorded and mixed by the band), while the second live session was recorded by the audiovisual production crew from Sonido Custom.

Limonero Fuzz’s line up consists of Raul Raulo (guitar), Dani El Gran Catalizador (bass), Manu Pantano (baritone guitar, vocals), Darío Butterkid (drums) and Lillo El Papá (scream vocals).

Can you please say a few words about your band?
Limonero Fuzz is a heavy psychedelic band originated from the depths of the Mediterranean orchards in the south-east of Spain, where ditches run through arid soils, making the land come alive. This metaphor also works for the musical ecosystem, which has always been very wide and diverse, hosting many bands from different points of the musical sphere.

What was the biggest challenge for the band?
Our biggest challenge is to carry on with our lives outside of the band, since we all have to eat food to stay alive. These kinds of biological needs sometimes keep us miles away from each other, because some of us have to go hunting, while others go gathering sticks for the nightfire.

What can you be most proud of so far?
We are proud of our friendship, which has kept our souls together even when our bodies are miles away. We also organize a festival in San Isidro (Alicante, Spain)we are very proud of.

What was your biggest regret?
We have declined invitations to play live several times because we had to do other stuff to keep us alive.

What was the best concert/tour so far and why?
We played twice at Labrador Psych Fest, which we organized. But the fact that we were organizing it was a little bit stressful so we didn’t enjoy it as much as we could have done. Anyway, we met very good people, like, for example, the guys from Santo Rostro who invited us to play in Canena (Jaén, Spain). That was an amazing night and, even though it rained a lot outside, we had so much fun because they made us feel at home.

What was the biggest surprise on the music scene for you?
We are really amazed by the amount of friends we have made along the way. We cannot name all of them but we always end up meeting new people, musicians or not, who are interested in the same things we are.

What is currently in your heavy musical rotation?
We listen to a lot of KG&LW, we think everything they make is gold. If we talk about mythical creatures, we confess we play Pink Floyd or Led Zeppelin in a loop. If we speak about younger bands… we can mention All them Witches, Yawning Man, Sleep or Viagra Boys (to name a few…) Anyway, we are happy to enjoy many different kinds of music: reggae, dub, tribe tekno, country folk, blues, flamenco, noise, hip hop…. just anything that has soul and is produced with love!!

What was the best advice you’ve ever been given as a musician?
“Slow is the tempo of the elders”. And also: “If it sounds weird, repeat it!”

What are your guilty pleasures?
Elia y Elizabeth. Besides, we smoke tons of THC.

Can you say something more about the current music scene in Vega Baja?
Oh, the scene… Our fathers and mothers gave birth to it by going to live shows in their youth. There were many many bands here in Vega Baja del Segura, between Alicante and Murcia: some were just friends having fun, some took it very seriously, some’s quality was unbelievable, other’s wasn’t that good, some have become more known than others …. but the quantity of bands… oh hell… that was an amazingly big number, something that anyone who lives here and is over 40 years old can tell. Sadly, there was a time not too long ago when it didn’t seem like the scene was alive since all the legendary venues were closing their doors, young people started going to those new reggaeton nightclubs and the bands we all loved were not active anymore. But now, and thanks to the people, it’s been some years where it looks like the scene’s breathing again, we are blowing some fresh air into it by organising shows and making comunion together between bands and with the audience. The music scene has never been dead, but it was quieter for a quite a long time.

Come to Labrador Psych Fest, 5th of September in San Isidro (Alicante, Spain)!! You will see how we cook here.

Where can we see you live this year (concerts/tours)?
That’s a top secret yet. But you will see us.

What are your plans for the future as a band?
Try not to die on planet Earth while 0,1% of humanity holds 99% of wealth and keeps genociding the other.

How can people best support your band?
Our band does not really matter. Support Palestine.

Do you have any message for your listeners?
Please, doubt. Don’t believe anything the cannibalistic pedophiles tell you, keep yourself awake because they will try to hypnotize you.
