Doomed Confessionary: Nick Antoniadis (Chipper)
Chipper is a four-piece heavy rock band from Thessaloniki, Greece. Their sound blends hard rock and stoner influences with a raw rock ‘n’ roll aesthetic. Known for their high-energy performances across Greece, they’ve shared the stage with well-known rock acts such as Sasquatch, Planet Of Zeus, Nightstalker, 1000mods and Villagers Of Ioannina City.
In 2020, Chipper released their debut album »Self Patrón«, followed by the EP »Reality Check« in 2023. Their second full-length album »Libertalia« dropped in summer 2025, marking a bold evolution in their sound. With gritty guitars, dynamic drums, and alternating vocals, Chipper channel their musical roots into a distinctive and evolving identity.
Chipper are Nikos Antoniadis (vocals, guitar), Asterios Papastergiou (vocals, bass), Alexander Athanasopoulos (guitar) and Ilias Mallioras (drums).
Can you please say a few words about your band?
Chipper is a heavy rock band from Thessaloniki, Greece, founded in 2016. We’ve performed extensively across Greece alongside renowned acts and have released three records: debut album »Self Patrón« (2020), EP »Reality Check« (2023), and our latest full-length »Libertalia« (2025).
What was the biggest challenge for the band?
The biggest challenge is trying to combine our daily jobs with the band live-schedule. Far ’till now we are doing great.
What can you be most proud of so far?
Back in 2023 we shared the stage with 1000mods and Villagers Of Ioannina City, in one of the biggest venues of our city. We are quite proud of this performance, it was majestic.
What was your biggest regret?
That we didn’t released our albums sooner!
What was the best concert/tour so far and why?
Best tour is happening right now, this period! We are playing in venues along Greece, Serbia, Bulgaria and Romania.
What was the biggest surprise on the music scene for you?
The audience in small towns and venues. They are really thirsty for rock n’ roll music and extremely supportive.
What is currently in your heavy musical rotation?
Chipper draws heavy influences from hard rock, heavy metal, stoner rock, and rock ‘n’ roll genres.
What was the best advice you’ve ever been given as a musician?
A wise man said to us: “Just keep it as a hobby, if you chase a pro career your sound will be shitty.”
What are your guilty pleasures?
Greek traditional music! Bouzoukia vibes!
Can you say something more about the current music scene in Thessaloniki?
Thessaloniki has a vibrant rock scene with multiple main venues where we have performed alongside renowned rock and punk bands.
The city supports heavy rock and metal acts, providing opportunities for local bands to grow and tour nationally!
Where can we see you live this year (concerts/tours)?
We just hit Athens and Karditsa in Greece. From 28/10 till 2/11 we’re playing in Balkan cities.
