Elchivo is formed in 2018. The band begins as a side project of Marco Gil, member and founder of Maligno, he wanted to create innovative sounds and forms of rock, stoner and doom. For this task he invites Stefan Berdem, who already plays drums in Maligno. The third to join the band is Viin Angelin on vocals and later on, producer and longtime friend Roi Zerda on guitars.

Formed in 2018, Elchivo began as an idea to create something different – a sound that captured the visions of four individuals with diverse backgrounds.
From Monterrey, Mexico, Elchivo offers a unique take on stoner rock and doom metal. Marco Gil, original founder of Maligno, began writing and recording ideas that evolved into an entirely new concept, one that he would later be named “Elchivo”.
To bring his vision to life, he reached out to drummer Stefan Berdem, with whom he had already collaborated in Maligno. Later, they recruited Viin Angelini as the vocalist and longtime friend and producer, Roi Zerda, on guitars.
In 2020, the band released their self-titled LP, featuring two singles and three music videos, alongside several live sessions and performances across the country. This work received national recognition, earning multiple nominations, including Best Stoner Rock Album of the Year and New Band of the Year.
Today, Elchivo presents their latest work, »Under The Black Sun«, an 8-track album that explores new sounds and textures while staying true to the essence that sets them apart. The album is available on every major streaming platform.
In 2025, Elchivo is gearing up to return to stages across Mexico and abroad, as well as to perform at the country’s most prominent festivals.
