Polish funeral doom metal duo Ysigim premiere new single »Downward Spiral« from their upcoming full-length album »Sins«!

Warsaw, Poland based funeral doom metal pioneers Ysigim premiere the third single »Downward Spiral« taken from their upcoming full-length album »Sins«.

»Downward Spiral« is available now on Bandcamp and other streaming platforms!

Ysigim stands as one of the pioneers of dark funeral doom metal. The band’s primary activity took place from 1993 to 1996, during which they released their debut album »Ain Soph Or« in 1994 and the compilation album »Whispers« in 1996. After several attempts to reunite, they successfully returned in late 2023.

In November 2024, Ysigim unveiled their new EP/album titled »Dead God Lies«, featuring a compilation of mixes from 2006 to 2012 of previously unreleased tracks, along with three new songs, including a 2024 reimagining of »Self Blessing« from their album »Ain Soph Or«.

“Why did Ysigim stop being active in the ’90s? I think it was simply burnout – burnout from making music and from keeping a band alive. At some point it just became too heavy, and this was never “easy” music to begin with.

We came back to Ysigim a few times – 2006, 2012, and 2023. That last time we told ourselves: if something is going to happen, it has to happen now, because we’re not getting any younger.

By the late ’90s we had already decided Ysigim would remain a duo. Line-up changes only hurt the project, eating up time we could have spent writing and recording. Sure, this meant stepping away from live shows – but as you can see, new songs are being created, and we’re in good shape to share a new album and new music.

When we started working on »Dead God Lies«, the plan was simple: just a single, 2-3 tracks. From the start we promised ourselves: this goes to press, even if we never do anything else. But in 2024, we ended up recording over an hour of material. Some songs went to »Dead God Lies«, some are waiting, and some are going onto the album »Sins«.

For us, »Sins« is like a return to 1994 – picking up where »Ain Soph Or« left off. And that’s how we came back.”

Ysigim is:
