Bandshee’s new album »The Long Road« out everywhere now!

“It’s always a special moment when you get to hear a band develop their sound. Bandshee still sounds like Bandshee, it’s just MORE BANDSHEE! The guitar playing is intricate at times, bludgeoning at others. Romana’s voice continues to get stronger, more self assured, and more lethal as a weapon of bad intent.” – Clean and Sober Stoner

»The Long Road« has been a long time coming for Bandshee. They started kicking around the idea of a Lord of the Rings/Led Zeppelin IV concept project in 2021 and in 2024 finally hit the studio armed with a lot more than a few ditties about elves. »The Long Road« has become, for its creators, at least, an album about the times we’re living in, the social injustices, bigotry, the wealth disparities. I dunno, maybe these things are the orcs we have to fight. I brought a wizard staff microphone to the fight, what about you?

»The Long Road« is the first studio album from Bandshee in their hard rock incarnation. A collection of songs that stemmed from a common love of Lord of the Rings, »The Long Road« is a fuzzy, riff-driven rock escapade. The album began as a concept project based on Lord of the Rings and Led Zeppelin IV. The project evolved through the band’s exploration of heavier sounds and arrangements until most of the original tracks written about LOTR were dropped in favor of heavier tunes dealing with current, rather heavy issues. Of note, »19 Lashes« is about wealth disparity, »Heavy On Main« was written in response to the killing of Breonna Taylor by the Louisville police and the subsequent protests in Louisville, KY. »Witch Wizard« is about transphobia and gender identity in modern America. The album represents a sonic paradigm shift for a band that began very much rooted in classic rock, acoustic “singer-songwriter” and jazz.
