Doomed Nation

Sounds For The Lost Generation

Doomed Confessionary: Markus, Kai S., Tim & Kai (Transcendent Barrier)

Transcendent Barrier is a four-piece doom/sludge/stoner metal band from Wesel, Germany.

Founded in 2015, Transcendent Barrier released full-length album »Divided« in 2022 and »The Spell« EP in 2023. Their track »The Spell« is also featured on Weedian’s compilation »Trip to Germany« (May 2025). With the latest single »Soilless«, released in June 2025, the band announces their new album »Doomed«.

Transcendent Barrier are Markus on bass, Kai Suckerfield on guitar, Tim on drums and Kai on vocals.

Can you please say a few words about your band?
We are Transcendent Barrier from the lovely town of Wesel, right by the Lower Rhine in Germany. Our sound is a heavy blend of doom, sludge, and stoner metal – with a solid dose of our own twist thrown in.

What was the biggest challenge for the band?
Reaching the point we’re at now and really finding our sound. It’s been a journey, especially with lineup changes and some musical differences along the way, but we finally locked in what feels right.

What can you be most proud of so far?
Definitely our uniqueness – we’ve built a sound that doesn’t just blend in. Also, the fact that we’re still making music together and genuinely having fun with it. That’s not something we take for granted.

What was your biggest regret?
Looking back, we’ve released a few things where the sound or overall presentation didn’t really live up to our standards.

What was the best concert/tour so far and why?
Honestly, our best shows have been the local ones. The vibe is just different. One standout was a local gig in Kleve with the awesome dudes from Could Seed (France) at the Radhaus – such a wild, unforgettable night!

What was the biggest surprise on the music scene for you?
The kindness of the people we’ve met along the way – some of those encounters turned into real friendships. Sure, there’ve been a few downsides too, but overall, the positive experiences outweigh the bad by far.

What’s currently in your heavy musical rotation?
Markus: Marthe & Elephant Tree.

Kai Suckerfield: Hell & Bell Witch.

Tim: Monolord, Bell Witch, Slomatics.

Kai: Windhand, Amyl and the Sniffers, Mad Season.

What’s the best advice you’ve ever been given as a musician?
Stay true to yourself. Don’t bend who you are just to get more attention or follow some random hype. Authenticity always wins in the end.

What are your guilty pleasures?
Markus: Motown and trashy movies.

Kai: South Park and… being alone.

Kai Suckerfield: Drinking and making music.

Tim: Family time.

Can you say something more about the current music scene in Wesel?
Things are slowly starting to move again around here, especially when it comes to bands. The local scene is growing, which is great – but it’s still pretty small, and there’s definitely room for more live show opportunities.

Where can we see you live this year (concerts/tours)?
Here’s what we’ve got lined up for the rest of the year:
Sep 13, 2025 – Krachgarten Festival, Wesel
Oct 18, 2025 – With True Voodoo & Portray, Radhaus Kleve
Nov 28, 2025 – Pre-Verenden Festival, Druckluft Oberhausen

What are your plans for the future as a band?
Next up is the release of our new album »Doomed«, recorded once again with the amazing Florian at Cellardoor Studio in Mülheim. We’ve been writing a lot and have tons of new material ready – you’ll hear some of it at our upcoming shows!

How can people best support your band?
Buy our merch, spread the word, and most importantly – come to the shows!

Do you have any message for your listeners?
Support the underground! And make sure to check out our latest single »Soilless« from the upcoming album »Doomed«.

STAY DOOMED.
