Cruzeiro also went through some lineup changes recently and already hit the stage with two new members in their hometown at La Disfrutona on October 3rd, 2025.
The band commented: “We want to let you know that this show marks a new era in the Cruzeiro lines. Two new members have officially joined the band: Pedro on bass and Brais on drums.
We want to give a sincere gartitude to our comrades in struggle over the past five years, Raposa! and Rust, who have made this musical journey a true adventure.”
2024 was a busy year for Cruzeiro, the stoner doom band from A Coruña, Spain. The Galicians put their intense live activity on hold for a while, and after releasing a split with the Italian band Stryx, they focused on creating »Hic Sunt Dracones«, their new album, with a spectacular duo: Javi Félez from Moontower Studios for the recording and mixing, and Jaime Gomez Arellano from Orgone Studios for the mastering.
If their eponymous debut full-length album already caused a sensation, Cruzeiro stand out in their second work as absolute masters of tempo and the magnificent spells of doom metal. Subject to the Beatriz Onyx witchery, the sorceress who commands this quartet from the micro, all the instruments shine here with their own light. Rust’s ample and generous drums, Gon. B’s versatile guitars and solos and, of course, Raposa!’s bass, crafted with care and engulfing the whole work with its mastery. Listen to songs like »Death Mountain« and you’ll see…
The band showed a creative and instrumental maturity out of the ordinary on their first album, and this time, starting from numerous themes and sources that go from the influence of characters such as the religious Hildegard von Bingen or Francisco de Goya, they build an even more solid, dynamic, and impacting work.
Through cultures and mythologies such as Egyptian and Galician, or even much more personal aspects such as love and pain, loss and illness, or even coexistence with our own selves, Cruzeiro dive “into those waters in which our thoughts and reflections flow, into those waters where we find ourselves alone with our spirits, and where we face our personal dragons”.
With a cover artwork illustrated by David Tejero and a design by Beto, »Hic Sunt Dracones« is a sonic delight, an out-of-body experience.
»Hic Sunt Dracones« was released on March 26th, 2025 via Interstellar Smoke Records, Vertebrae Records, La Rubia Producciones and Doomshire Tapes. Get your copy HERE.
