Brazilian epic doom metal band Midgard announces collaboration with Tempusvernum vocalist Hegle Flyfree!

Brazilian epic doom metal band Midgard announces a collaboration with Hegle Flyfree, vocalist of the band Tempusvernum.

Paula Jabur, Midgard’s frontwoman, commented further on this collaboration:

“Among our upcoming releases, later this year, we will have a tribute track that we are not going to reveal yet, but it will certainly surprise some people. For it, I invited Hegle, vocalist of the band Tempusvernum, to collaborate. It was a very spontaneous invitation. We have known each other for many years, and I always thought it would be cool for us to do something together, but the ideal opportunity had never come up. Then this idea came up and it fit perfectly. Midgard has been following and enjoying Tempusvernum for years: it is a very unique band that we like a lot. It is a great pleasure for us to have the opportunity to make this exchange happen.”

More information soon.

Midgard is a Brazilian heavy doom metal band formed in 1999, considered one of the pioneers of the genre in Brazil, inspired by the dark, epic, and emotional spirit of the great European and American acts of the 1980s. From the beginning, the band has blended powerful riffs, melancholic atmospheres, and introspective lyrics, earning recognition as one of the most distinctive acts in the Brazilian underground metal scene.

Band History
Midgard first gained attention with three independent demos: »Midgard« (1999), »Self Liberty« (2000), and »Lamúria« (2001). These recordings, totaling five original tracks, received very positive reviews from specialized metal media in Brazil and abroad. The original lineup included Kleber Perini (bass), F.L.Y. (vocals), Vinícius Perotto (drums), Omar Rezende, and Fábio Vargas (guitars).

In June 2001, Midgard reached an important milestone by opening for the legendary German band Helloween during The Dark Ride Tour in Catanduva, São Paulo, gaining wide exposure in the Brazilian metal scene.

After several lineup changes, with bassist and founder Kleber Perini as the only constant, the band recorded its debut album »From Ashes…«, released in 2005 by Force Majeure Records and produced by Alex Voorhees (Imago Mortis). The album featured guest appearances by Alex Voorhees and Ronaldo Simolla (Delpht), including a cover of »Solitude« by Candlemass. The lineup on the album included Daniel Paes de Barros (vocals), Marcos Figueiredo (drums), Rafael Bianzeno, and Walter Piglialarme (guitars). The release led to tours and to the band’s participation in the Wacken Open Air Metal Battle Brazil 2008.

Geographical distance led to another hiatus. After several unsuccessful reunion attempts, Midgard returned in 2021 with an almost original lineup, featuring F.L.Y. and Omar Rezende, along with the ever-present Paula Jabur, who had always managed and produced the band behind the scenes and had previously participated as a guest lyricist and keyboardist, now also contributing backing vocals. They presented a new version of »Midnight Rainbow«, originally from the »Lamúria« demo and re-recorded »For Midgard’s Sake« from debut »From Ashes…«, which premiered with a music video at the Roadie Crew Online Festival.

Soon after, the band suffered a major loss with the passing of drummer Marcos Gil, leading to a period of mourning before activities resumed.

In 2022, Midgard released the single and music video »Crying At The Party«, which was selected by the curators of the Roadie Crew Online Festival among the Best of the Year.

In July 2024, Midgard participated in the first Latin American tour of the European hard rock band Cobra Spell.
