Aunt Cynthia’s Cabin will unveil the self-titled full-length on December 18, 2026, via Black Throne Productions. The band’s distinctive psychedelic desert rock sound is infused with nostalgic qualities through fully immersive cinematic soundscapes.

Drawing inspiration from Black Sabbath’s »Planet Caravan« and Pink Floyd’s »Dogs«, »Matador« provides a dynamic introduction to the album. Musically, this instrumental track builds gradually into life with stripped-back moments and passages of captivating harmonized layers. The track’s title is a reference to »The Sun Also Rises« by Ernest Hemmingway.

»Archangel« explores the inescapable torment of experiencing frequent nightmares. “The song is basically praying to Archangel Michael to protect me in my sleep, and save me from the night terrors.” Explains Justice. In »Archangel«, the band chose against layering the guitars, instead emphasizing the sense of raw vulnerability with a single lead track.

Exploring the freedom of expression and being able to briefly shed the weigh of adulthood in contemporary life, is the focus of »Bash«. Through distorted guitars and up-beat rhythms, the three-piece reveal the heavier side of Aunt Cynthia’s Cabin’s sound.

»On The Mountain« was the first song written by Brennan Justice and Anthony DeFreitas for Aunt Cynthia’s Cabin, and first released in 2017 prior to Jeremy Luvaas joining the lineup. This new version is re-recorded with higher energy and features all three members. “Lyrically I wrote it 9 years ago but its about the power of mother nature. Mountains, ocean, sun, anything. Its the most powerful force in the universe.”

Written by DeFreitas, the narrative of »(An)Hedonia« is about “an arc of a depressive, existential cycle trying to achieve something and make an end, and then another person enters the picture and changes that situation incredibly. Not that they fixed everything themselves, but like they reminded us of who we are.” It’s a love song that focuses more on the human element rather than the romance.

»In Your Eyes« harkens back to Justice’s time in a surf rock band with the style of guitar used throughout. This track also sees the vocals utilized as another instrumental layer instead of being situated as a focal point. Justice shares, “lyrically its about falling in love with my wife, about letting go of other things in my life and accepting her love.”

»Summer Place« marks a sonic division on the album between Side A and Side B. Standout parts of the track include the band’s vocal harmonies. While the structure of the arrangement is relatively simple, Aunt Cynthia’s Cabin produces an enveloping sound that evokes the warmth of the summer sun.

An intimate acoustic offering is found in »Departure«. The song compares the past with the now, how life has changed for the band’s members. “Lyrically this one has elements of mortality, aging, maturity, substance habits. It’s a good one.” It also begins the 3 song section: »Departure«, »Hiatus«, and »Revival« that forms this final part of the album’s track list.

Musically, »Hiatus« leans into a classic Western style. Featuring whistles performed by Justice for the first time on an Aunt Cynthia’s Cabin release, the song conjures up images of vast landscapes and open skies.

»Revival« was written by the trio in the golden hour sunlight of the band’s final recording day. In the music can be heard elements of The Doors and Kyuss, but a key aspect is the use of space in the arrangement as the song moves through differing sounds. »Revival” ends with a powerful outro and chatter from the recording studio, drawing Aunt Cynthia’s Cabin to a dramatic close.

Aunt Cynthia’s Cabin was recorded and mixed by Brennan Justice, and mastered by JJ Golden. The album was recorded in Camp Verde, Arizona. The album is available on vinyl, digital, and CD formats, alongside an additional 4th repress (x500) of their 2020 release »Misty Woman«.

About Aunt Cynthia’s Cabin:
Aunt Cynthia’s Cabin is comprised of San Diego’s Brennan Justice (guitar, lead vocals), Anthony DeFreitas (bass, vocals) and Jeremy Luvaas (drums, percussion). Beginning as a duo, Justice and DeFreitas’ previous time in a surf rock ensemble saw the pair develop their signature Western tones with an excessive use of spring reverb, translating now to the ethereal, dusty sound of psychedelic desert rock. The band’s name is born from a fictional 1970s murder mystery novel dreamt up by the trio on a drunken night, capturing their embrace of “strange and heavy”, aptly fitting of the uncanny elements entwined in their music. Aunt Cynthia’s Cabin produce a neo-psychedelic style that carries an eerie quality. The sonic atmosphere envelopes each listener with nostalgia. It is hauntingly cinematic.

The trio began as a self-recording band with a home-brew analog-meets-digital rig set up. The DIY approach was left behind in 2019 when the outfit ventured from their hometown of San Diego, CA to Austin, TX to record »Misty Woman« in a studio they felt would best fit the vibe of their new compositions. Working with producer Adrian Quesada (The Black Pumas, 7-time Grammy-nominee) at Electric Deluxe Recorders, the very sun-beaten landscape that surrounds the studio fed into the quality and mood of the recordings. Initially released by Nasoni Records in February of 2020, the enthralling textures and captivating character of Aunt Cynthia’s Cabin’s »Misty Woman« returned in 2025 including the new track »Magic Touch«, on vinyl and CD via Black Throne Productions.

Aunt Cynthia’s Cabin sees the trio embark on their next chapter, leaning further into cinematic realms. Recording for this album was undertaken by the band themselves, moving out of the traditional studio set up into their own defined space, a sense of freedom and creative development that can be heard across the track list. Aunt Cynthia’s Cabin once again join forces with Black Throne Productions for this release. Aunt Cynthia’s Cabin will be unveiled on December 18, 2026.
