American doom/sludge metal band Acid Wizard share their debut single and music video »Painkiller«

Corpus Christi, Texas based doom/sludge metal trio Acid Wizard has released a music video for their debut single »Painkiller«.

Acid Wizard is a trio of musicians from South Texas made up of Riot on guitar, Tommy Gunnz on drums, and Fernando Moreno on bass/vocals all with a love for a variety of heavy music that has coalesced into a unique blend of doom, sludge, and heavy rock.

Formed in the latter part of 2023 in Corpus Christi, Texas by Riot who recruited Fernando from a local Facebook page they began writing and looking for members to fill the ranks. Originally being a four-piece that was show ready by the fall of 2024 they began performing as Acid Wizard and recorded a couple demos. It took time to find the right drummer and bassist and they struggled during the end of 2024 to find the right chemistry. At the beginning of 2025 Tommy Gunnz was recruited to be the full time drummer after previously filling in on drums and in April of 2025 the decision was made to become a trio.

Acid Wizard spent the first 7 months of 2025 playing every show they could make it to and have attracted fans all around the state. They have since opened for multiple national, regional, and international touring acts and continue to be requested for shows around the state. Due to the heavy show schedule they only recently recorded their debut album in August of 2025 at Red Barn Studios in Mission, Texas with Roberto Canales (Panteón) handling the recording, mix, and final mastering and is slated for winter 2025 release with singles and music videos to be released first.
