Doomed Confessionary: Tony, Joe & Bobby (Circling Over)

Circling Over is a post-metal/shoegaze quartet hailing from Denver, Colorado.
Founded in 2022, Circling Over are set to release their highly anticipated debut full-length album, »Amends«, this Friday August 8th, 2025 via Braeburn Records. Fusing dense post-metal textures with ambient shoegaze and haunting melodic progressions, »Amends« is a cinematic and emotionally charged journey through grief, healing, and transformation.
Following the critical acclaim of their recent single »Eve« – a track praised for its emotional range and sonic intensity – »Amends« delves deeper into the band’s signature blend of beauty and heaviness. With immersive soundscapes that echo the introspective intensity of Cult Of Luna, the celestial ambiance of Holy Fawn, and the brooding weight of Isis and Deftones, »Amends« cements Circling Over’s place in the modern post-metal landscape.
Can you please say a few words about your band?
Joe: Doomgazey band from Denver CO.
Tony: We are making art we love hoping to connect with people.
What was the biggest challenge for the band?
Joe: Starting from scratch with strangers having just a general idea of what we wanted to create. It took a few months to find a sound and pushing through those months without losing interest was challenging.
Bobby: One of our biggest challenges has been coordinating our schedules, but we figure it out!
What can you be most proud of so far?
Bobby: We’re most proud of our first studio record. Everything came together really well, and working with Green Door Recordings was an absolute pleasure. Felipe, the engineer and owner, is all about creating a solid, high-quality product, which was exactly what we were after. The experience felt collaborative and focused, and the final result really captured what we envisioned.
Tony: Putting out our first Record Amends. We have been working on music since 2023 but in some ways this feels like the official start to this project.
What was your biggest regret?
Bobby: Fixing my pedalboard by punching it during a set. Don’t do that!
Tony: Maybe polishing our sound a little before we started playing shows. I feel like we are there now!

What was the best concert/tour so far and why?
Joe: May 2024 we played an amazing show with the Italian doom metal band Messa at HiDive in Denver.
Bobby: Opening for Sparta has been our favorite show so far. It was an all-around incredible experience as the energy was so great, and sharing the stage with such a legendary band in the scene made it really special. It felt like a milestone for us.
Tony: I liked both shows Joe and Bobby mentioned Sparta was a blast but the Messa show felt like the crowd was a little more into what we are doing.
What was the biggest surprise on the music scene for you?
Joe: How big the scene is in Denver. I (Joe) came from a mid size city in the south east with a relatively small scene. Having a big scene like Denver is both a good and bad thing. Good in the sense that there are lots of shows and a large amount of bands and musicians but bad because it can be hard to stand out.
Tony: How much social media is involved. I feel like you have to be an influencer and an expert at marketing in order to get any attention. Influencer first and artist second.
It is just a much different landscape that 10 to 15 years ago.
What is currently in your heavy musical rotation?
Joe: Advent, Cult Of Luna, Power Trip.
Bobby: Latitudes, After Nations, and Black Bile lately.
Tony: Mammut, Fartbarf, Nerver, Medium Build, Deafheaven.
What was the best advice you’ve ever been given as a musician?
Bobby: Practice your craft as much as you can. Playing well doesn’t come free.
Tony: Don’t take yourself to seriously.
What are your guilty pleasures?
Joe: Corn Dogs.
Tony: This band, Coal Chamber, Triple D.
Can you say something more about the current music scene in Denver?
Tony: Lots of crazy talented bands in Denver. Something is in the water here. Just glad to say I feel like we fit in.
Where can we see you live this year (concerts/tours)?
Joe: Denver CO, and surrounding cities. No tours planned at the moment.
Tony: Denver/Colorado/Springs I would love to play some festivals so festival talent buyers… Hi.
What are your plans for the future as a band?
Tony: Keep creating. Build on what we have written and released.
How can people best support your band?
Joe: Simply coming to shows!
Bobby: If you’re local, coming out to see us live is one of the best ways to support us as nothing beats that energy. But even if you’re not nearby, following us on social media and Spotify really helps us grow and reach more people. Every bit of support counts!
Do you have any message for your listeners?
Tony: Thanks to those of you that have shown support and cant wait to hang w you at the next show.
