Italian avant-garde heavy alchemist Lili Refrain presents her hypnotic new video for »Coil« today, ahead of the imminent release of her sixth studio album »Nagalite« on Subsound Records and an extensive European and UK tour this Friday.
About her new video directed by Sandro Bocci, Lili Refrain comments: “»Coil« introduces the third movement of Nagalite: the threshold space. It is a magical circle of synth and percussive layers that envelop like a spiral: a place where poison and remedy brush against each other, where vision arises exactly at the point where fear and desire meet. Here the serpent reveals its dual nature: guide or predator? The answer is not in the serpent, but in the one who chooses to cross it. It is the most ritual chapter of the journey: the awareness that every collective transformation is born from a risk, a choice, an act of responsibility.”

Lili Refrain’s sixth studio album »Nagalite« is a suite in four movements. Four alchemical states of an imaginary serpentine metamorphosis, a practice of transformation that crosses the body, memory, and the historical time we inhabit. A sonic reflection that speaks of us, in an era where wars return to burn and horror becomes normalized, dissolving into background noise. Amidst this darkness, the serpent becomes an act of love: the possibility to change, to shed the skin that hurts, to refuse the repetition of suffering. “»Nagalite« is an invitation to remember this. To transform not only to save ourselves, but to rediscover the thread of love that binds us to all that exists,” says Lili Refrain.
Entirely written, performed and executed by Lili Refrain, »Nagalite« is built through real-time looping using voice, guitar, bass, synth, floor tom, bass drum and drum machine. It was recorded, mixed and mastered at 16th Cellar Studio in Rome by Stefano Morabito. Check out her latest »Nagal« video!
