Press release:

Danish post-hardcore band KŌYA announces debut full-length album »Pendula«.

Following the release of their debut EP Fragments and the standalone single Pig Wine, alongside appearances at When Copenhell Freezes Over, Copenhell, SPOT Festival, Summer Breeze and Roskilde Festival, KŌYA now presents its most ambitious and emotionally confrontational work to date.

»Pendula« is an intense exploration of instinct, control and inevitable collapse. Moving between violent aggression and atmospheric melancholy, the album examines the psychological tension between the person we attempt to become and the parts of ourselves we fail to suppress.

Blending post-hardcore with elements of sludge, black metal and shoegaze, KŌYA has developed a sound defined by dynamic contrasts, emotional volatility and sustained tension – constantly shifting between the restrained and the animalistic, the precise and the collapsing.

Thematically, »Pendula« revolves around repetition, dependency and the illusion of progress. Each track functions as part of a larger emotional narrative exploring repression, self – destruction and the cyclical nature of human behavior.

With »Pendula«, KŌYA sharpens both aggression and songwriting without sacrificing the atmospheric depth and emotional weight that have defined the band’s identity since its earliest releases.

“At the end all these words are only worth as much as writing on a toilet wall.” (Kōya – Pendula – Becoming the Same, 2026)
