Dutch alternative rock trio Inside Shadows retleases new single and music video »The One You Need«

Dutch alternative rock trio Inside Shadows return with their new single and music video »The One You Need«, out May 29th, 2026 via ForSure Records.

Following a long silence caused by health-related setbacks, the band delivers a raw grunge-driven track shaped by emotional tension, cultural conflict and personal conviction. Inspired by Mitchell Verschoor’s own experience of a relationship between two different cultures falling apart, the single is paired with a video that combines new footage with material filmed almost seven years ago, underlining the long road behind the band’s public debut.

Dutch alternative rock project Inside Shadows released their new single »The One You Need« on May 29th, 2026 through ForSure Records.

Created by guitarist and vocalist Mitchell Verschoor together with drummer Sander Pietersen in early 2019, Inside Shadows grew out of a desire to write raw and emotionally direct songs shaped by grunge, punk and new wave influences. After bassist Daphne Verschoor joined the project, the band slowly developed its identity, though health-related issues forced the group into a long period of silence before eventually returning with a new creative direction.

Earlier this year, Inside Shadows introduced themselves with the debut single »Supernova Gamma Rays«, which gathered positive reactions internationally. »The One You Need« follows as the band’s second single.

The song draws from Mitchell Verschoor’s own experiences growing up around a relationship between two very different cultures that slowly collapsed under emotional pressure and conflicting worldviews. Rather than presenting a simple breakup song, »The One You Need« focuses on the tension between love, identity and deeply rooted personal convictions.

Musically, the track leans into a rougher alternative rock and grunge sound, carrying traces of Nirvana and The Smashing Pumpkins while keeping a more stripped-back and direct approach.

The accompanying video combines newly filmed material with footage dating back almost seven years, showing the long road the band took before finally releasing music publicly.

Mitchell Verschoor and Sander Pietersen are also known from Dutch punk rock band F.U.A., whose album »Socially Transmitted Disease« was released through WormholeDeath Records in 2018.
