Californian blues rockers Shotgun Sawyer return with new single »You’ll Never Get Your Chains On Me« on Ripple Music

US southern blues and rock’n’roll unit Shotgun Sawyer return with their stomping new single »You’ll Never Get Your Chains On Me« – their first recording with new member and guitarist Bobby Parker (Salem’s Bend) – on all streaming services today.
Says the band: “The song is about freedom; it’s meant as a reflection of the rising tide of far-right authoritarianism in the United States, and the fight of all people of conscience to resist. As voting rights are being infringed, as civil liberties are being violated, and as senseless wars are being waged half a world away, it just doesn’t feel right exclusively writing songs about good ol’ times. As Nina Simone once said, ‘An artist’s duty, as far as I’m concerned, is to reflect the times’.”
The lineup on »You’ll Never Get Your Chains On Me« includes original Shotgun Sawyer members Dylan Jarman and Brett Sanders, joined by Slow Season’s Cody Tarbell on drums, and Bobby Parker of Salem’s Bend (who also engineered the song).

Shotgun Sawyer is a blues and rock’n’roll band from the small town of Auburn, California. Growing up in the woods and down on the river, vocalist/guitarist Dylan Jarman, bassist Brett (The Butcher) Sanders, and original drummer David Lee absorbed deep, Americana roots from childhood. Growing up listening to rock’n’roll bands like Led Zeppelin, CCR, and the Allman Brothers and expanding out into the Deep Delta & Chicago Blues of Son House, Elmore James, and Howlin’ Wolf, Shotgun Sawyer combines all these influences and more into a raw, authentic, and explosive performance, night after night, and in the recording studio.

Signed to Ripple Music in 2019, Shotgun Sawyer has released three records to date: their riotous debut “Thunderchief” in 2016, the sophomore full-length »Bury The Hatchet« in 2019 and their crossroads-worthy latest outing »Shotgun Sawyer« in 2024. Having tirelessly toured the US West Coast from 2015 to 2020 (including a month-long campaign across Europe in 2018), Shotgun Sawyer took a break following Covid-19 shutdowns. With a 2020 return to Europe shelved, creative differences came to a head, and in 2021, original drummer David Lee left the band. With new drummer Cody Tarbell of Slow Season and Westing fame and second guitarist Bobby Parker on second guitar, Shotgun Sawyer is now ready to deliver more of their electric power to the masses.
