“The story is simple: People have been asking for the album. Here it is.” Because, in a way, they’re already here and everyone’s talking about them – it’s just that the album was missing until now. So let’s keep it short. Today: KRAKE!
KRAKE has gotten off to a remarkable start. Since their formation in 2024, the Berlin trio has carved out a solid place for themselves in the scene and, with just two singles, has played major scene venues and festivals – such as Stoned From The Underground, Desertfest Berlin, Blue Moon, and the Keep It Low Festival – and was invited by Pothead to open for them at their annual band festival.
It’s great that word of mouth still works every now and then. The band is certainly the talk of the town, their merchandise is everywhere, and their influence seems to be all over the place. And KRAKE gives all of that right back, because the intensity on stage is immense, endearing, and compelling – and even during the recording of their debut album, none of that authenticity was lost. It’s explosive, driving, and puts a smile on your face, while at the same time making you want to dance, drink beer, and sing along. Everyone does what they want – no elaborate concept, no over-the-top staging.

Three people, six arms, and a sound that lies somewhere between a dusty desert and Berlin Kreuzberg. KRAKE plays loud, heavy, riff-driven heavy rock that’s unusually fresh and catchy, drawing on stoner, doom, a healthy dose of punk rock, and a pinch of Lemmy. And it’s precisely the German lyrics that feel unusual in this mix. There’s room for wordplay, a touch of humor, and above all for choruses that latch on like suction cups from the very first listen. Direct, raw, and without any unnecessary fluff. They can even switch between German and English without it being noticeable or distracting, because frontman Thorsten Rock (sic! That’s really his name!) lived in the US for a long time, so he intuitively switches between the languages when writing.
Recommendations? »Loch« really sinks in on the first listen and sticks with you. It’s not the kind of song you write every day. »Rein Rein Rein« captures the Berlin vibe of Oranienstrasse – especially if you’ve ever partied into the sunrise at Franken or SO36. And »Alle machen was sie wollen«, with its power and directness, would fit right in with a slightly better-known trio from the Berlin neighborhood – only it has more of a street vibe and doesn’t have a doctor’s title.
