Doomed Confessionary: Márcio Silva (Fallen Idol)

Fallen Idol is a heavy/doom metal trio from São Paulo, Brazil.
Founded in 2012, Fallen Idol consists of Rodrigo Sitta (guitar, vocals), Márcio Silva (bass) and Ulisses Campos (drums).
The band released their latest full-length album »Weed And Black Candles« independently on November 18th, 2024. »Weed And Black Candles« maintains the characteristics of Fallen Idol, obviously showing a natural evolution, both in terms of composition, performance and production.
Can you please say a few words about your band?
We are Fallen Idol, a heavy metal band from São Paulo, Brazil since 2012. We have some records out, hope you like it!
What was the biggest challenge for the band?
I think the biggest challenge was to start the band, to write songs and really play it live, to make it become albums and everything. We all have our regular jobs and families and we can’t live only for the band, so this is always a real challenge.
What can you be most proud of so far?
In the band context? That would be our last album, »Weed And Black Candles«. We really put a lot of work into it and we think it’s our best effort until now.
What was your biggest regret?
I can’t think of anything I would regret right now, I guess everything is a part of what we are.
What was the best concert/tour so far and why?
It’s been a long time since we played live, because our guitar player/singer lives in Australia now, so we can only make records. But we played with great bands from Brazil and even European bands.
What was the biggest surprise on the music scene for you?
Well, I don’t know if I would call it a big surprise, but I would like to recommend a few bands from Brazil that I think deserve more attention:
Mortem Crucis, doom metal band from São Paulo with great songs played by two bass players and a drummer. For Paradise Lost and Type O Negative fans.
Pesta: These guys are from Minas Gerais, Brazil. If you love the old Black Sabbath, Pentagram and that kind of stuff, you should check them out.
Podridão: One of the best bands in Brazil, they play death metal the old fashion way. And next month they will play a European tour, including the Obscene Extreme Fest. Check them out.

What is currently in your heavy musical rotation?
Mainly old stuff. I recently discovered David Bowie and it’s been a great pleasure to hear those old albums. But I really love music and I listen to a lot of bands and artists, from Beatles to Death and many more.
What was the best advice you’ve ever been given as a musician?
Always play from your heart.
What are your guilty pleasures?
Oh come on… in music? I don’t feel ashamed or anything, but I love the 70’s music, films and anything. So, there’s a lot of pop songs from that time that I enjoy and I really think the 60’s and 70’s were the best time for music. And the 80’s of course, being a metalhead.
Can you say something more about the current music scene in São Paulo?
Well, not too much… Some people are making some stuff happen and it’s cool. We have many shows and great bands playing here every year, but in the underground things are always harder, you know.
Where can we see you live this year (concerts/tours)?
We are currently on a hiatus from playing live, unfortunately… As I said before, we have a member living on the other side of the planet and we really can’t do anything about that right now.
What are your plans for the future as a band?
Well, right now we just started to re-record our demo to properly release it as a real album.
Due to bad production at the time, it is only available online, but we think that some songs are ok and deserve a proper production and we’ll see…
How can people best support your band?
We have all of our stuff on Bandcamp and YouTube right now.
You can follow us on these platforms and on Instagram, we’d appreciate it a lot!
Do you have any message for your listeners?
Thank you very very much! We would like you to know that everyone of you is special and everything we do is for you to listen and we are happy to know our music came into your life.
Support real bands and real music!
