As lost genius David Lynch put it, “You can transcend anywhere in the world. The unified field is here, and there, and everywhere.”
Transcendence is the name of the game for long-running shoegaze/ambient/post rock group All India Radio. The brainchild of Martin Kennedy, AIR has been spreading its ethereal soundscapes into the universe since 1999, and after a temporary hiatus Kennedy and co-conspirator Mark Wendt are back with the same line-up that recorded their acclaimed »Echo Other« album.
Embracing the experimental slowcore of their early years, All India Radio’s new album »The Unified Field« is loaded with reverb drenched tremelo guitars and hazy atmospheres, drawing inspiration from Labradford (who they once shared a stage with), underground legends Duster and the moody, atmospheric aesthetics of David Lynch’s cinematic world.

Following up this summer’s cover of shoegaze legends Slowdive’s »Catch The Breeze«, AIR have just released a music video for second single »The Red Room«, an appropriately unnerving homage to the iconic »Twin Peaks«.
In the band’s words:
“If you like slow burning ambient post-rock, with deep space between notes and David Lynch-ian undercurrents of mysticism and extra-dimensional whispers then our new album »The Unified Field« is FOR YOU.
Frank Kelly Freas’ art for »Dune The Banquet Scene« vinyl (1977) is also the cover of the new album. I was lucky to get permission from Laura, Kelly Freas’ widow. It’s long been one of my favourite pieces of science fiction art and I’m so happy I can use it.”
»The Unified Field« arrives and transcends on October 31st, 2025 (Digital, Vinyl, CD).
