Doomed Confessionary: Filip, Dawid, Mateusz & Adam (Daffodil Pill)

Daffodil Pill is a four-piece band from Wrocław, Poland, combining neo-psychedelia with surf-rock motorics and instrumentation such as sitar, theremin, and organs. The band is evolving towards faster tempos and raw energy. The group has performed over 80 concerts, and released their debut album »Daffodil Pill« in 2024, produced by Marcin Bors. Daffodil Pill was also featured on the Weedian’s compilation »Trip to Poland«.
Daffodil Pill released their new live album »Live at NCPP« on May 14th, 2026 via Interstellar Smoke Records. Recorded in Opole at the National Centre of Polish Song, the record features six new tracks along with two known from their debut album.
Formed in 2020, Daffodil Pill consists of Filip Dudek (vocals, guitar, synthesizers, special effects), Dawid Stawiarz (guitar, backing vocals), Mateusz Wróblewski (bass, backing vocals) and Adam Chmura (drums).
Can you please say a few words about your band?
Dawid: Daffodil Pill is a four-piece vessel drifting on waves of psychedelia. A massive dose of sunshine, smiles, good times, and vivid dreams coming true. It’s raw garage vibes and organic sounds, broken rhythms, and swapped instruments – all laced with a touch of surf, latino, prog rock, and elements we can’t even name ourselves, but which give us that sweet, feel-good drive.
What was the biggest challenge for the band?
Filip: Maintaining consistency when releasing new material. Three years passed between our debut EP and our studio album – life, work, and the logistics of steering four different minds in the same direction. We’ve learned that consistency and regularity are more important than talent and endless perfectionism.
What can you be most proud of so far?
Filip: We have a lot of cool achievements under our belt, like playing at the legendary stage of the National Centre of Polish Song (where our latest live album was recorded!), or performing at Red Smoke, the most important Polish stoner rock festival. But our biggest achievement is that after five years, we’re still friends, we love spending time together, and there’s been absolutely no drama between us.
What was your biggest regret?
Dawid: Our biggest regret is that we didn’t record and release more earlier, partly due to endless perfectionism. We have hundreds of hours of golden jams recorded that have never seen the light of day, and they absolutely should! For us as musicians, traveling back in time to the recording of one of those brilliant jams and capturing that fleeting moment is the ultimate magic of being in a band.
What was the best concert/tour so far and why?
Mateusz: Definitely our late 2024 tour – 12 intense, back-to-back days across Poland, Czech Republic and Germany. It was a brutal marathon, but we completely locked into this incredible, shared hive-mind energy. Gig-wise, three stand out for the sheer contrast: transitioning right after Polish kids’ music royalty Arka Noego (pure surreal energy); hitting the heavy, hazy stage at Red Smoke Festival; and opening for Siena Root. Fifteen years ago, we were losing sleep listening to them in our bedrooms, so sharing that stage was a massive full-circle moment.

What was the biggest surprise on the music scene for you?
Mateusz: Honestly? It’s beautiful how dead the concept of ‘rigid genres’ actually is. If you told us a few years ago that we’d play right after a legendary children’s folk group and the exact same crowd would seamlessly pivot into fuzz-heavy psychedelic rock, we wouldn’t have believed you. The truth is, people don’t care about sticking to a strict musical box anymore – they just want authentic, raw energy, no matter how wild the contrast.
What is currently in your heavy musical rotation?
Dawid: Summertime is my Grateful Dead and loose, hippie-esque music revival – the time of the year when the music never stops. It’s also a return to my thrash metal roots, as Mateusz and I are going to see Megadeth, Anthrax, Overkill, and Coroner at Mystic Festival next month. Electric Wizard too!
Filip: I’m listening to solo Paul McCartney now, trying to figure out the origin of the melody. Then there’s Jesse Welles to understand how folk can work these days. Also returning to Budgie – my first real love and the reason I started playing music.
Adam: Lately, I’ve been listening to Screaming Headless Torsos’ »1995«, D’Angelo’s »Voodoo«, Pharoah Sanders’ »Love Is Everywhere«, and a lot of Alice Coltrane on repeat. On the heavier side of things, I’ve recently been revisiting Iron Maiden’s discography. It still hits hard.
Mateusz: My current rotation is a wonderfully absurd mix of Slift’s blistering psych-rock single »A Storm Of Wings«, the epic »Heroes III« soundtrack, and Colter Wall’s gritty country debut.
What was the best advice you’ve ever been given as a musician?
Dawid: Trust your intuition in terms of playing, composing, and performing. Simply do what you feel like doing, because nobody can do it better – have fun and let your inner self loose while doing so, immerse yourself in it. Be uncompromising in doing so and trust the process.
What are your guilty pleasures?
Adam: My guilty pleasures: bottom-shelf beer, Dr Pepper, a techno night type of party, a terrible superhero movie, overeating, or lifting the blanket right after I fart.
Mateusz: Wrapping up in a cozy blanket and thick socks, listening to Electric Wizard’s »Funeralopolis« with a cat on my lap, and just nodding along because the lyrics are completely spot on.
Filip: Watching every possibile video about the Beatles, video games, smoking cigs.
Dawid: In my world, there’s no such thing as a guilty pleasure. I embrace every pleasure of body and mind without a shred of guilt – I thrive on satisfaction!
Can you say something more about the current music scene in Wrocław?
Adam: Wrocław is the undisputed hub of the Polish underground and alternative culture. Change my mind. People are already calling it the “new Berlin,” and I totally sign off on that. The scene here is incredibly dense. We have several truly important local hubs for alternative culture, spearheaded by Klub Szalonych, which is gaining more and more nationwide popularity. Keep an eye on this place and the bands tied to it – we’re part of this community ourselves. The genre diversity is also impressive; Wrocław thrives on contemporary jazz, psychedelia, stoner rock, and every possible subgenre of metal. If I were to make a list of Wrocław bands, it would probably be endless. Some of the best include Jaman, Banda Debili, sneaky jesus, Ślina, Grimoire, EABS, and Błoto. The local scene is tight-knit, highly supportive, and constantly collaborating. There is seriously so much going on here.
Where can we see you live this year (concerts/tours)?
Dawid: The closest upcoming event where you can catch us is Fląder Fest in Gdańsk on June 12th, 2026. A festival organized right on the beach is totally our vibe, so we absolutely can’t wait for this party!
What are your plans for the future as a band?
Dawid: First and foremost, keeping up a consistent release schedule. We have a ton of material recorded – we’ve been doing so with all our rehearsals since day one, and there are so many interesting jams and motifs buried in there that it could easily make a few albums. On top of that, we recently took steps toward better multitrack recording; we miked up everything, and now we’re recording our rehearsals in way better quality. The next step could be putting out those raw, completely unpredictable jam stories that we’ve been capturing for so long. It’s the part of being in a band that we love the most, yet no one but us has ever heard it! We also have a plan for our next studio album to record it entirely on our own, in a basement, doing it our way and with that raw garage intensity. I’m not saying anything more so I don’t spoil the surprise!
How can people best support your band?
Adam: The answer is simple and predictable – come to our shows, buy our albums, and grab some merch. The best way to support us is through your presence and engagement with our work. If you can’t make it to a live show, head over to Bandcamp – every single dollar goes straight to us there. If you like having something tangible in your hands, pick up a CD or vinyl. If not, just tell someone we exist, or send a link with our music to a friend.
Do you have any message for your listeners?
Dawid: Keep your ears open because we’ve got plenty of new things coming, which we’ve already teased a bit earlier. Other than that, smile as wide as you can, listen to whatever plays in your heart, spread good vibes, support your favorite artists (including checking out our newest NCPP live release!) and stay warm!
