»Me And My Shadow« is the 5th studio album from the rock power trio Dirty Sound Magnet.

While the previous album »Dreaming In Dystopia« (2023) was a journey into psychedelic folk, proving once again that the band defies categorization, the new record highlights their explosive rock’n’roll energy.

Despite the richness and variety, the record forms a coherent whole – unmistakably Dirty Sound Magnet.

The band calls their artistic approach Infinite Rock, as they strongly believe that musical possibilities are endless and that music is not a resolved equation, but an ever-expanding universe.

An extensive world tour (Europe, UK, United States, Mexico, Latin America) is planned to support the release.

Order »Me And My Shadow« HERE.

1. Power Of This Song
Lyrically and musically, Power of this Song pays tribute to Blind Willie Johnson’s 1920 blues classic Nobody’s Fault but Mine. It’s the band’s way of honouring the roots of rock music and the timeless spirit that inspired it all.

2. Dance And Die
The band keeps the high energy of the opening track but shifts stylistically into Power Funk Rock territory. The groove, echoing early disco, invites the listener to move and surrender to the beat. Tragically, the party is cut short and ends in death.

Bass and drums drive the track relentlessly as the tension escalates, reaching its climax in a tortured guitar solo. The lyrics are inspired by personal events and evoke a deep-seated fear of time slipping away.

3. Swimming In Trance
Time to slow down and feel the music in our souls. Rhythmically jazzy yet fully psychedelic in tone, Swimming in Trance is lyrically the darkest and most chilling track ever written by Stavros.

In the aftermath of the previous song, he imagines his own death, addressing family and friends from the other side.

4. Dead Inside
After meditation comes explosion. Dead Inside is the hardest-rocking song in the band’s catalog. Built around a relentless riff, the track captures the raw live energy of Dirty Sound Magnet on record. As with the rest of the album, everything was recorded in the same room, in a live setting.

While the earlier tracks contemplate physical death, Dead Inside explores a more philosophical form of death: the death of the soul.

5. Calypso
Every Dirty Sound Magnet album features a long, epic centerpiece. Calypso is a ten-minute progressive, psychedelic, mythological journey, culminating in a fiery, Hendrix-inspired solo. A truly mystical experience awaits.

The lyrics are complex and multi-layered. The narrative unfolds as a love story set in the world of dreams, ending tragically for both lovers. Through the mythological figure of Calypso, Stavros exposes relationships in which one feels trapped.

6. The 9 Commandments Of Men
The weirdest track on the record. The opening bars may sound like country blues, but the listener is quickly plunged into a world of mystery that defies description. Driven by acoustic guitar, the harmonies are deliberately eerie and menacing.

Lyrically, the track exposes the horrors and inconsistencies of animal farming.

7. Long Drive
Long Drive is the heartbreaking ballad of the record. The song unfolds from gentle guitar and vocals to the full band joining in, steadily growing in emotion and intensity. It was recorded live in a single take to preserve its raw, authentic feel.

The track reflects on the difficulties of life on the road and the challenge of building a lasting romantic relationship as a touring musician.

8. Me And My Shadow
If there were only one track to define Dirty Sound Magnet, this might be it. It embodies everything that sets the band apart. The influences are hard to pin down – Western blues, Eastern mysticism, African voodoo – probably all of the above. But above all, it unmistakably sounds like Dirty Sound Magnet.

The track moves like a rock song with a groove that invites you to dance. The verses feature all three musicians singing together, the music transitions into an acoustic bridge, and it erupts in a fiery guitar solo, all within a distinctly progressive framework.

Lyrically, Stavros turns inward, reflecting on the nature of inspiration and the source of creation. The themes explore free will, the unconscious self, and the irrepressible drive to create art.

Dirty Sound Magnet is Stavros (guitar, vocals), Marco (bass, backing vocals) and Maxime (drums). They play together for more than 10 years and perceive music as something that is infinite. The band tries to have no boundaries when they create. This makes their music complex and rewards people that are ready to dive deep into their realm. The provocative lyrics will hopefully touch a nerve here and there.

Dirty Sound Magnet’s music will please fans of the golden Age of Rock music but also fans of more modern artists like King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard, Psychedelic Porn Crumpets, Damon Albarn, Tame Impala.

The creation of »Me And My Shadow« almost never happened. Just two weeks before the first recording sessions, frontman Stavros suffered a life-threatening poisoning. Half-conscious and surrounded by doctors, the first fragments of the album began to surface in his subconscious – visions carried by the light of music and the power of rock’n’roll.

Much of the record’s intensity and themes grew directly from this experience. Working on the album became both healing process and creative outburst, turning shock and struggle into sound. The result is a powerful statement, and the band now stands more inspired than ever – ready to share a spark of hope in uncertain times.
