“Vatermord“ is German for patricide. The duo explores the literal and metaphorical meanings of the concept in their art, which critically examines hegemonic forms of masculinities. Answering violence with violence is a concept that our culture still embraces, especially for “strong men” who do not want to be perceived as “victims”. This represents the more literal meaning of Vatermord. However, it could also be seen metaphorical as a way of cutting ties with patriarchy.

Vatermord says about »Worte einer Kindheit«:

“Our first album pays homage to Ágota Kristóf’s Le Grand Cahier, a novel that follows twins forced to adapt to a brutal world, where they ultimately come to see patricide as a legitimate means to an end.

Extreme music for us is a way to deal with the hardship of the world, in general and especially in its current form. We explore the darker sides of human existence without – we hope – glorifying them. By imagining worlds stripped of empathy, solidarity, and kindness, we seek to underline how essential those qualities truly are.”
