Moon Reaper is a formidable force in the UK underground metal scene. Emerging from the shadows, they blend relentless brutality with haunting melodies, creating a sound that is both ferocious and atmospheric. Having made their mark with a memorable performance at Bloodstock Open Air last year, Moon Reaper continues to push boundaries with their latest EP »Black Sun Sorcery«, out June 7th, 2024.

This new release delves into the violence and malignancy of deep space entities, drawing inspiration from the enigmatic and destructive forces of black holes and quasars. With themes rooted in darkness, mystery, the occult, and the cosmic expanses, the EP promises to take listeners on an intense journey through the malevolent expanses of the universe.

Prepare to be engulfed by the void as Moon Reaper unleashes their otherworldly soundscapes and relentless sonic onslaught. This EP is not just a collection of songs; it’s a dark odyssey into the heart of cosmic terror.

Moon Reaper are Sirin Ann Bozkurt (vocals), Morgan Cradick (guitar, vocals), Jarrad Fisher (guitar), Aidan Rutter (bass) and James McPhee (drums).

Can you say a few words about your band?
To summarise, we are a 5 piece blackened doom HC band from Bristol, UK and have just released our brand new EP »Black Sun Sorcery«.

What was the biggest challenge for the band?
Choosing songs to play live and deciding our release structures!

What can you be most proud of so far?
Our recent release, which we worked on for about 3 years, enduring member changes, Covid issues and financial challenges. We’re very proud of what we’ve put out and can’t wait to go back and do it again.

What was your biggest regret?
We had the opportunity to play a large event, but the promoter could not guarantee our payment. We regret not taking it without getting paid.

What was the best concert/tour so far and why?
Our performance at Bloodstock 2023, a truly monolithic event, of which so many people came to see us. Incredible experience all round.

What was the biggest surprise on the music scene for you?
The amount of people who’ve actually listened to us across the country and know our songs/have supported us along the way. Very wholesome.

What is currently in your heavy musical rotation?
Goreguts, Gutalax, Black Tongue, Bodysnatcher, Pest Control, Escuela Grind, Burner, Tuskar, Mastiff and Conan.

What was the best advice you’ve ever been given as a musician?
Practise to a click and never, ever give up. That’s when you defeat your chances of success.

What are your guilty pleasures?
I feel no guilt for liking Dr. Dre, although I hope our bassist feels guilty for liking Ghost.

Can you say something more about the music scene in Bristol / UK?
In south west UK, the scene thrives in Bristol, but seems to be a little slow in the smaller towns. We are always wowed by the amount of talent in this country.

Where can we see you live this year (concerts/tours)?
29/06 Funeral Fest in Cumbria UK
06/07 at the Metal To The Masses Bristol Grand Final as a guest headliner.
25/08 at One For Sorrow festival in Plymouth

What your plans for the future as a band?
Play as many sick shows and release as much quality music as we can for as long as we can. We’d love to play the Sophie Lancaster stage at Bloodstock and also play other European fears such as Tolmintor, Hellfest, Grasspop, Wacken and Brutal Assault.

How can people best support your band?
Come to see us live and buy some merch!

Do you have any message for your listeners?
Remember that you are a part of an historic culture, you represent the latest lineage in a long line of alternative humans. Be proud and be strong.
