Italian death/doom metal band Shrieking Demons recently signed with Transcending Obscurity Records for the release of their debut album, titled »The Festering Dwellers«, which will see the light in January 2025.
The band features current and former members of Assumption, Bottomless, Haemophagus, Becerus, Sleeping Dark, Thysia, Cancer Spreading, Gravesite, Terror Firmer and more.
Shrieking Demons are Gabri (vocals), Giorgio (lead and acoustic guitar), Valentina (rhythm guitar), Nino (bass) and David (drums).
Can you say a few words about your band?
Our band is a casket that’s being carried by five pallbearers from one cemetery to the other. We’re up to no good. We’ve all been in multiple bands for the past 20+ years, some of those are Cancer Spreading, Assumption, Bottomless, Terror Firmer, Haemophagus, Morbo and a thousand more.
What was the biggest challenge for the band?
Distance. We live in three different cities and the long drives and train rides are fucking boring, especially if you have the misfortune of dealing with the Italian transport system.
What can you be most proud of so far?
Playing ancient, organic, trigger-less death metal in a plastic world is something to be proud of in our book.
What was your biggest regret?
Not being able to play live more.
What was the best concert/tour so far and why?
We haven’t played many gigs to be honest. Usually the smallest places are best for what we do.
What was the biggest surprise on the music scene for you?
Surprise-wise, I must say that Armagh and Kontact are the best recent metal bands I can think of right now. High Warden’s next LP sounds promising already.
What is currently in your heavy musical rotation?
Some LPs and CDs on my table are Chained Lace – »Morbid Fascination«, Sonja – »Loud Arriver«, Sweet – »Funny How Sweet Co-Co Can Be«.

What was the best advice you’ve ever been given as a musician?
On the night of my very first club gig ever (2001) some guy yelled “KILL ALL THOSE WHO CAN’T PLAY!”, a quite strange and funny advice. I don’t always agree, though.
What are your guilty pleasures?
I’m obsessed with pizza, dirty thoughts and singing Whitney Houston hits wholeheartedly when I drive.
Can you say something more about current music scene in Italy?
Italy has always had a weird but strong scene. My No.1 faves are Bulldozer, closely followed by Schizo and early Necrodeath. As for the current times, make sure you check out at least Eraser, Messa, Gothic Stone, Tenebra, Ponte Del Diavolo, Bunker 66, Gargoyle, Temptress and Demon Spell.
Where can we see you live this year (concerts/tours)?
Check out our Facebook or Instagram pages.
What are your plans for the future as a band?
We’ll probably play a few gigs to support the release of our first album, out in late January via Transcending Obscurity Records.
How can people best support your band?
Bandcamp is key to all of us!
Do you have any message for your listeners?
Yes: LET’S ROT!!!
