Doomed Confessionary: Konstantin (Order Of The Black Jacket)

Order Of The Black Jacket led by singer, lyricist and songwriter Konstantinos Dedes is a heavy rock band from Greece with many different influences in their sound, from early Judas Priest to middle-era Red Hot Chili Peppers and Greek garage rock scene.
The band’s debut EP »Iconoclasm« was released in February 2019, followed by two full-length albums: »Spirit Rock« (2023) and the most recent »Lost In The Southern Blackness« (2025). Available now in CD and digital formats, »Lost In The Southern Blackness« also features covers of 1000mods and Desert Dingos.
Can you say a few words about your band?
Order Of The Black Jacket are hailing from Greece.
This whole thing started as a Solo project to combine the love for heavy rock, thrash metal and nerdy stuff and philosophical lyrics, but it evolved in something bigger that we now call it Spirit Rock.
What was the biggest challenge for the band?
The biggest challenge was the project to stay alive in the Covid times. I tried to get the best out of these desperate times, so I took advantage of the Isolation and tried to write the best tracks that I could.
Although this situation almost destroyed the band as a whole, it made me a better composer.
Also it’s an everyday challenge to keep your musical vision alive in Greece, because everything here is against real art (government, majority of society).
What can you be most proud of so far?
For doing a live recording in Studio E (for the National TV/Radio broadcast), where legendary Greek albums have been produced. (The guy who started this project – to bring underground artists into the mainstream – is no longer there, as everyone in Greece who tries to do some quality work).
Also, the release of three albums, and headlining a festival in our area (Peloponnese).
What was your biggest regret?
Listening to idiots and parasites, at the early stages of the band, which ended in losing a lot of money and good past band members…
But this is how someone learns i guess… Doesn’t “I have life experience” means the same as “I have bad experience?”
What was the best concert/tour so far and why?
The Best concert so far was in 2019 at a Festival in Southern Greece, in the middle of the summer, because we were given enough stage time and resources to put up a great show.
We even had a choir with us… But of course the organisers, failed to record it somehow.
What was the biggest surprise on the music scene for you?
Negative Surprise: How much jealous people can get when when they see that you are doing something that you love (playing music/running a band) and people who you consider “friends” will try to destroy your band in shady ways.
Positive Surprise: That you never know who is gonna love your music, until you get it out there. Just do it and see!
What is currently in your heavy musical rotation?
Emma Ruth Rundle and Thou collaborational album »May Our Chambers Be Full« is phenomenal, brutal, heavy and melancholic, and all the riffs and melodies are 100% on point.
What was the best advice you’ve ever been given as a musician?
To not take advices from others 🙂
What are your guilty pleasures?
I try not to feel guilty for what I do, because guilt is the primary slave emotion but I get what you mean 😀
I mean there’s always room for good 80’s-90’s pop (Kim Wylde, Costas, Ace Of Base), isn’t it? 😀
Can you say something more about current music scene in Greece?
The people in office here who are responsible for the cultural/art are really doing their best in order of the local artists won’t have a voice. But there are many individuals here who are doing their best without official state support.
Quality festivals are organised, independent labels are releasing albums, and people are supporting the local artists. In a while it will be “too big to ignore” 😉
Where can we see you live this year (concerts/tours)?
Soon some live shows will be announced, and as we approach the summer, there will be some festival appearances as well.
What are your plans for the future as a band?
Recording the second act of »Lost In The Southern Blackness« which will be the opposite of desperation (is the main theme of the current album).
Expressing what we have inside in a pure way l,and see what happens with no expectations.
How can people best support your band?
By buying merch and coming to the shows. If money is an issue it’s ok…. Some pure words from the heart are still appreciated!
Do you have any message for your listeners?
Yes. Retreat! Meditate! Attack!
