Doomed Confessionary: Dibasson & Beszel (Müntrails)

Müntrails is a dark post-rock band hailing from Galicia, Spain.
Formed in 2022, Müntrails has captivated audiences with their genre-blurring fusion of atmospheric post-rock, melancholy melodies, and raw, ritualistic energy. The band describes their journey as a quest to create deeply personal and timeless music, weaving their conceptual narratives through their recordings and electrifying live performances.
The band has recently signed with WormHoleDeath to release their debut album »The Cenobite Tapes« on May 2nd, 2025. Having already made waves with their previous EPs (»Venom To Come«, »Disorder Road« and »Dance Divine«), Müntrails has built an impressive foundation, with »The Cenobite Tapes« marking a new chapter in their sonic evolution.
Müntrails are Dibasson (vocals), Beszel (guitars, programming, backing vocals), Zennon (keyboards), Bas-Lag (bass) and Shevek (drums).
Can you say a few words about your band?
Dibasson: Well, the band formed in ’22 with the trio Beszel, Zennon, and Dibasson, already recording a few songs while we were looking for a bassist and drummer… these arrived under the names Bas-Lag and Shevek respectively. During this time, we’ve recorded three EPs and played a few shows in the area. WormHoleDeath Records recently arrived, and in May we’ll release our first album with them, titled »The Cenobite Tapes«.
What was the biggest challenge for the band?
Dibasson: Perhaps finding our sound, first of all finding the right members, was also a challenge, but leaving our areas of operation relative to other previous and current projects always represents a challenge for ourselves. I would say this: finding our own sound, creating it, developing it, and making it increasingly interesting and risky.
What can you be most proud of so far?
Dibasson: Well, from this very thing, from finding our sound in a fairly short time and developing it little by little… and from recording three EPs in just a little over a year and from our proposal having aroused interest in various and varied places and as a result of that interest being able to record our first album with WormHoleDeath.
What was your biggest regret?
Beszel: We’re really very satisfied with our journey so far since we started, since we’ve worked hard and also enjoyed it, so we don’t let ourselves look at the negatives. Maybe the only thing is not having founded Müntrails when we were 20, hehe.
What was the best concert/tour so far and why?
Dibasson: We haven’t played many shows yet, just a few in our region, here in Galicia and northern Portugal, but I’d say the Pontevedra concert and another one we did in Portugal were the best for me.
In Pontevedra, it was because of the audience, who were incredibly involved with us, and the one in Portugal, because it was our first concert abroad, so we had low expectations, let’s say, and it was the opposite: a fantastic concert and audience.

What was the biggest surprise on the music scene for you?
Dibasson: I’m not up to date on everything, I don’t have much information on the latest trends and such, for me the last pleasant surprise was Ghost, taking into account that it is no longer a “new project”.
Beszel: For me, in recent years, it’s the Belgian band Brutus, and on the more metal scene, it’s the American band Hath and the Danish band Baest.
What is currently in your heavy musical rotation?
Dibasson: There are many and varied ones, not just metal, in fact, I would say there is very little metal… these days I’m listening to Rome, Diamanda Galas, Katatonia… I don’t know… Billy Idol, Depeche Mode… then I can go a couple of weeks without listening to anything at all and then I’m only listening to ambient or atmospheric music… like Dead Can Dance, Fields Of The Nephilim, Elend or something like the Cure or Alice in Chains or Faith No More in short, several things.
If I want to listen to metal, I go to the best, Sabbath, Priest and Mercyful Fate.
What was the best advice you’ve ever been given as a musician?
Dibasson: Make sure you have good monitor listening, if not, you have in-ears and always pee before a gig.
Beszel: Be consistent and enjoy it.
What are your guilty pleasures?
Dibasson: Oh, I like Abba, Bee Gees, Boney M and some disco shit from the late 70s and early 80s… like Patrick Hernandez, if I’m somewhere and something like that comes on, I get excited right away hahahahaaa.
Can you say something more about current music scene in Galicia?
Beszel: Like everywhere these days, there are countless bands, but in our region, the hard part is playing live, since there aren’t many places to do it. It’s also difficult to travel abroad due to the distance. As for bands, there are quality ones, like Mano de Piedra, Kalte Sonne, Dismal, Stasia Momento, Nocturna, and many more.
Where can we see you live this year (concerts/tours)?
Dibasson: We’re just now finalizing things, because the album comes out in May and we have several things lined up, but we’ve only closed a couple of shows or three. We’ll keep you updated!
What are your plans for the future as a band?
Dibasson: Plans are just that… plans…
We do things as they arise and organize things little by little. The most immediate thing is obviously to release the album, see the reactions, and book as many shows as possible in good conditions. We’re also working on new songs. We’ll see the next step. It’s projected, but not “planned.”
How can people best support your band?
Dibasson: Well, basically, just like it’s done today, by following us on social media, if we’re in your city, coming to see us, and buying our merchandise and our albums… that would definitely be a big help.
Do you have any message for your listeners?
Dibasson: We hope you like our music, that you come see us live and that you continue supporting music and other creative inspirations, which already come to us from hardships around us. Thank you very much.
Beszel: Don’t forget to keep enjoying the little things!
