Serpent Cobra is a heavy/doom metal band hailing from Santa Fe, Argentina. The band just released their new full-length album »Metal Disaster« on May 5th, 2024. Available now on all major streaming services!

Serpent Cobra emerges from the depths of the underground music scene as a formidable force in the realm of heavy metal, doom metal, and punk. With a venomous blend of crushing riffs, thunderous rhythms, and raw, emotive vocals, Serpent Cobra captivates their audiences with their dark and rebellious sound.

Serpent Cobra are Carolina Dusau (vocals, guitar), Emanuel Acosta (guitars), Emmanuel Leonhardt (bass) and José Imaz (drums).

Can you say a few words about your band?
Serpent Cobra is a group of friends that are soooo different among each other, we have different tastes in music, different personal styles, and lifestyle, and this is what we all bring to the table. Therefore, Serpent Cobra is basically kind of a musical Frankenstein lol.
That’s why it’s kind of hard for people, and even ourselves, to put a label or to box our music into one single metal genre.

What was the biggest challenge for the band?
We are all broke sf, but we are quite resourceful. Money has always been an issue regarding recording material, buying gear, travelling to different cities to play live, etc, but we were able to pull everything off, and make the material we have so far. Also, I’d say the biggest challenge of all has been keeping the band going through all the bumps on the road for the past 7 years since we started the project. Having a band is like being married, but in our case not to one, but to three other people! We’ve managed to put up with each other quite well haha.

What can you be most proud of so far?
»Metal Disaster«, our latest album, I’d say is our best material and the best we ever sounded. It has been really difficult to record this new album, and that’s why it took us three years to put this baby out. But it was definitely worth every headache and stress we went through!

What was your biggest regret?
Personally speaking, I wouldn’t say my biggest regret, but this is something that makes me cringe a little bit. It’s resorting to the “satanic” cliche in this genre. We actually are pretty normal people and don’t go around sacrificing virgins and all that stuff lol. I was pretty young when I wrote these lyrics, and also a big fan of gothic literature and everything obscure since I was a little kid. Anyways, the songs that made us reach our audience are related to this theme, and I guess people understand this is fiction and don’t take it too seriously, same way as we do. Actually, even in the latest album, some of the lyrics were made during or after the pandemic. But I’m more pleased by the new lyrics in general. Some of them are quite personal and more mature.

What was the best concert/tour so far and why?
Our best shows were those during 2022. We’ve been to Buenos Aires, Córdoba and a few cities in Santa Fe, met so many great bands and people, that’s the best part of it. We also lived the rock and roll life for a little bit just in time before becoming “too old” for it lol. We definitely did lots of things we wouldn’t be doing these days…

What was the biggest surprise on the music scene for you?
I’d say the biggest surprise was the fact that we reached far more people than we could have imagined, and also we have a solid fanbase that has been patiently following us and waiting for the new material. Also the solid Argentinian fanbase that goes to every show we play! We are so happy and grateful for that.

What is currently in your heavy musical rotation?
I had to ask the other guys so I can share a bit of perspective from all of us.
Caro: Turnstile, Title Fight, Deftones, a new band I discovered recently called Parents.
Ema (guitar): Starbenders, Headpins, Night Viper.
Gringo (bass): Unwound, Tanukichan.
Ado (drums): Metz, Turnstile, mostly 80s pop music.

What was the best advice you’ve ever been given as a musician?
The main one was to believe in myself, believe in what I do, ignore every fear of failure and rejection, and to not be constrained by the lack of resources, to always try to record material while it’s still relevant and not let too much time pass by, you can make great music with very little money and resources.

What are your guilty pleasures?
We normally don’t feel guilty about anything haha, in musical terms, we all enjoy every genre out there, sometimes when we gather we play anything, Britney Spears, Abba, the Bee Gees, just to name a few.

Can you say something more about the music scene in Santa Fe / Argentina?
The music scene here is quite extensive in genres and good in quality, there are SO many great bands in this country, I could mention Soma, Monte Palomar, Wicca, among others. great fuckin bands.

Where can we see you live this year (concerts/tours)?
Our first show will be on June 15th to present our new album, then we are discussing doing a small tour wherever we can! We can’t wait to go back to Cordoba, but we would also love to play in Mar del Plata for the first time, and also visit the South and North of Argentina.

What are your plans for the future as a band?
Probably keep putting out good music! Experimenting with new sounds and genres is a big YES for us as well.

How can people best support your band?
Definitely by buying our digital album on Bandcamp. This is the only source of revenue for us to recover what was invested in the album and also for putting out merchandise and financing our tours and new music as much as possible.

Do you have any message for your listeners?
Thank you all from every corner of the world for listening to our music, this is the most fulfilling thing for us. Hope our music changes your mood in the best way possible and is a good company to you in your day to day!
