The 2nd for today… Let’s go!

Tenebra is a four-piece stoner/heavy psych/blues rock band from Bologna, Italy.

Of the four members, Claudio (bass), Emilio (guitar) and Mesca (drums) came from the hardcore and post-hardcore squat scene that gathered around Bologna, whereas their formidable vocalist Silvia (the youngest of the crew) is immersed in the underground rock of the ’60s and ’70s. When you hear her sing you’ll know where she’s coming from as she has one helluva rock voice, laced with whiskey, smoke, grit, late nights and a whole lotta soul.

Can you say a few words about your band?
We’ve been playing together for six years now. We released a first, self produced, LP in 2019 and then, once the pandemic was over, we released an EP in 2021 and a record, »Moongazer«, in 2022 for New Heavy Sounds. This year a split was released with the Human Colonies for Nonomori Records and, in these days, another split was released with Chow and Firecracker which will be distributed together with the quarterly magazine “Gimme Danger”. We play around as much as we can and we’re starting to record the new album, in short we keep ourselves busy!

What was the biggest challenge for the band this year?
The biggest challenge is always making the band work and managing our jobs at the same time. Furthermore, we live in different cities, and it is not always easy to make everything fit together. But we care a lot about Tenebra and for now we have managed to do almost everything we wanted to do.

What can you be most proud of this year?
It seems to me that we have grown both as a band and in chemistry between us. Beyond being a band we love each other and I think this comes through in the music and in our shows. The thing we are most proud of is the band itself, also understood as the set of relationships that unite us.

What was your biggest regret?
I really don’t think any of us regret anything.

What was the best concert/tour this year and why?
The mini tour we did with Bottomless was definitely the most fun of all. We’ve known each other for a long time and Giorgio has also collaborated on some of our songs, they are a great band. We will play together again next year too.

What was the biggest surprise on the music scene for you?
This year there have been many fantastic releases by our dear friends such as Marthe, Hyperwülff, Human Colonies, Bottomless, Thedus, Dievel and Marnero. There are new bands like Waste Cult and Orbita that we really like. In short, we liked many things and I’m definitely forgetting some.

Where can we see you live next year (concerts/tours)?
For now we have only booked a couple of gigs for 2024, one will definitely be at a nice festival here in Bologna. We want to focus on the new album mainly.

What are your plans for the next year as a band? What do you personally want the most?
As I said before, the new album is definitely a priority, we will start recording some tracks at the beginning of the new year. We are very happy with the musical direction of the new songs and we want to make a record worthy of Moongazer.

Do you already know what are you doing on New Year’s Eve?
We will definitely spend December 31st doing our own thing, but the night before, the 30th, we will play at a festival called Noisemojesi in central Italy which will definitely be cool.

How can people best support your band?
Listening to our music and coming to the shows. If you still have some change left in your pocket, buying a record or a t-shirt won’t hurt.

Do you have any message for your listeners?
Thank you for supporting us over these years, for a small band like us, gaining new fans is always an incredible joy and a great honor. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
