Doomed Confessionary: Greg, Gilles & Bruno (High On Wheels)

High On Wheels is a stoner/desert rock power trio from Paris/Lyon, France. Founded in 2014, the band consists of Grégoire Beaumont (drums, vocals), Gilles Tantot (bass, vocals) and Bruno Guerra (guitar, vocals).
After more than a decade of relentless touring and a reputation for electrifying live shows, High On Wheels returned with their highly anticipated new album, »The Monkey«, out on October 17th, 2025 via Klonosphere Records. Promising a heavier, dust-ridden soundscape, the record captures the essence of their live shows, thunderous, high-octane, and undeniably real.
Known for their pure, gritty, and direct approach to rock, High On Wheels craft music that thrives on stage, where their three voices, three instruments, and unfiltered energy come alive without the need for synthesizers or any artificial gimmicks. The band embodies the spirit of a three-headed beast, delivering unrelenting riffs and desert-drenched grooves that strike a chord with fans of Kyuss, Red Fang, Fu Manchu and Truckfighters.
Can you please say a few words about your band?
Greg: High On Wheels is a band about pure energy, something to feel alive.
Gilles: It’s classical rock’n’roll music with sweat and fury.
Bruno: Heavy fuzz rock, with a subtle touch of psych and punk rock.
What was the biggest challenge for the band?
Greg: When the first bassist left, it was hard to not just abandon the ship. And build something new. Finding someone that matched was a challenge.
Gilles: We are lucky to be the three of us now.
Bruno: The biggest challenge is for Gilles and Greg having to endure my stupid dad jokes, although I’m the only one with no kids.
What can you be most proud of so far?
Greg: The project has existed for twelve years, now and we are still here, crafting sound with friends.
Gilles: We are still making the music we want, the art we decide, I think we can be proud of this independance.
Bruno: My superpower of procrastination. It’s called “typical portuguese delay”.
What was your biggest regret?
Gilles: We had a bad experience in a place where we played a gig. We’ve been asked to turn off the show because somebody didn’t like it…
Bruno: A really frustrating evening, we had to stop playing and explaining our performance… Weird and frustrating…
Greg: It was in Germany, they don’t know how to cook French fries over there.
What was the best concert/tour so far and why?
Bruno: Our 2024 tour was amazing. We went to Hamburg to Budapest through Slovakia and Czech Republic.
Gilles: We played in so many different places, meeting a lot of different people, eating a lot of French fries.
Greg: Best way of life ever: Sharing music in different countries to see that art is connecting us.

What was the biggest surprise on the music scene for you?
Gilles: One time, we were in a small bar in Auxerre, France. Everybody was sitting at their table, drinking, eating French fries and we thought : everybody is going to leave on the first chord.
Bruno: We were playing loud and fast, not quiet music for dinner. But the crowd loved it, they stay sitted the whole time but was very communicative. Amazing night!
Greg: Don’t remember it, I was drunk.
What is currently in your heavy musical rotation?
Gilles: For me, it’s the last album of It It Anita. Noisy rock stuff from Belgium! The French fries country!
Bruno: Old nu-metal stuff like Korn and Slipknot. And some actual stoner bands, Elder, Planet Of Zeus and 1000mods.
What was the best advice you’ve ever been given as a musician?
Gilles: It’s something a colleague said to me at work and I apply it all the time: Don’t care about the rules as long as you find it beautiful.
Bruno: Play what you like and enjoy.
What are your guilty pleasures?
Gilles: I love to eat French fries.
Greg: I love to cook French fries.
Bruno: I love to eat Gilles’ French fries cooked by Greg.
Can you say something more about the current music scene in France?
Gilles: Not enough political message from French rock band. We had to wait for Idles or Slomosa to say things on stage in France to talk politics… That’s sad.
Greg: We want more rough, brutal live music. Too much sound production these days.
Bruno: Yes. More angry stuff. Fuck nazis.
Where can we see you live this year (concerts/tours)?
Gilles: We will stay in France this year (Paris/Clermont/Lyon…), but we will build a eastern tour for 2027.
Greg: Stay tuned! And send us a message to help us book gigs.
What are your plans for the future as a band?
Gilles: Writing stuff!
Greg: Cooking stuff!
Bruno: Playing stuff!
How can people best support your band?
Gilles: Buy a LP, a CD something from the shop on Bandcamp. It helps us to have some money to go on tour.
Greg: Share our music to your friends!
Bruno: Book us!
Do you have any message for your listeners?
Gilles: Eat French fries, it’s vegan.
Bruno: Add our music to your playlist and set the volume at 11.
