Doomed Confessionary: Nic (Bad Absalom)

A beer-drenched 4 piece based in Sydney, Australia; forming a coagulated mix of groove-laden stoner and ferocious punk rock. The band have taken to some of Sydney’s most iconic stages in support of an independently released debut album »Bad Absalom«, out in April 2021. Recorded, mixed and mastered by the legends at renowned The Brain Recording Studios.
Bad Absalom released a brand new single »The Room« in December 2023. This is the first single taken from the band’s upcoming EP »Paradise Is Cancelled«.
Can you say a few words about your band?
We’re a four piece stoner/punk band from Sydney. We have an album out and an EP on the cusp of being released. We’re really looking forward to recording a new EP/album in the new year. We also like beer.
What was the biggest challenge for the band last year?
Biggest problem of the year for our band was recruiting new band members. Our old bassist and drummer left and we had to find new members that were best suited to the band. It took us a while, but back in November we played our first gig with our brand new line up which left us sounding huge!
What can you be most proud of last year?
Finishing our EP – »Paradise Is Cancelled« – we really put a lot of blood, sweat and tears into this EP and we’re all absolutely chuffed with how it is sounding.
What was your biggest regret?
Delays in the EP being released.
What was the best concert/tour last year and why?
For a local band, it was definitely King Parrot. Those guys were so fucking sick and played at one of our favourite venues – The Duke Of Enmore. We’ve all followed ing Parrot since we were teenagers and it was incredible to see them live. For international artists, it was definitely Paul McCartney. Any metal head is a Beatles fan at heart. Seeing Paul play for 3 hours with no breaks and hearing his ageing voice was extremely humbling.

What was the biggest surprise on the music scene for you?
Internationally: Pantera touring again. Locally: The news that Frankie’s possibly be opening in Sydney again.
Where can we see you live this year (concerts/tours)?
This year you’ll see us gigging in the Inner West of Sydney. Hopefully lineup a tour to country towns in New South Wales, Australia, this year as well.
What are your plans for this year as a band? What do you personally want the most?
To hit the ground running. We’re going to record another killer EP and gig, now that we’ve got a line up and that 2023 was essentially a write off due to the need for new band members. Also we will be getting shirts made and other merch.
How can people best support your band?
Support us on our multiple social media platforms and buy our album on Bandcamp.
Do you have any message for your listeners?
Don’t do school and stay in drugs.
Do you already know what are you doing on New Year’s Eve?
Sydney is full of house parties so we will be skipping around them.
