Evercloud is a melancholic metal band from Guadalajara, Mexico. Formed in 2021 by Omar Thistle (lead guitar) and Mitch Reyes (rhythm guitar, vocals), lead singer Lieth Rossen Rott, bassist Mon E Ramone and drummer Alexi Sanbel joined shortly after.

Strongly influenced by melodic death/doom metal, the band resonates with the melodies of human sentimentality and the deepest emotions.

Evercloud has released their debut album »From Light To Eternity« on June 7th, 2024 via Sun Empire Productions.

Can you say a few words about your band?
Evercloud is a melodic death – doom project from Guadalajara, Mexico. We like to think the sound of our band can sail through the calmest waters with beautiful skies and go all the way to violent tides in a storm and everything in between. Quoting one of our major influences we care about gloom, beauty and despair.

What was the biggest challenge for the band?
Even though Mitch and I had experience working with bands and making music we really made big efforts for this band. I believe everything in its own has been challenging, writing the music, making the demos, recording, making the videos, making the art and design. If i had to pick one, I would say the lyric video Rebirth was definitely demanding for Mitch, his fiance and I.

What can you be most proud of so far?
We are just proud to be doing what we love the most. Music is a big passion for all of us and being together just because of our love for music is really satisfying. We really feel accomplished by having finished our first album, which at first felt like an impossible task.

What was your biggest regret?
I believe we could have handled the release of the CD album »From Light To Eternity« way better. We were lucky enough to be signed by our record label Sun Empire Productions but this came after we started a fund-raising pre-sale campaign. We had to postpone the shipping of all orders to ensure a better product now made by the label instead of going indie. We are incredibly grateful with the label but I guess timing was not the best.

The thing we regret the most is that we were going to open the show for October Tide in our hometown, but unfortunately the show was cancelled.

What was the best concert/tour so far and why?
So far we had only three shows ever, I believe the three of have been great. In Guanajuato we had the opportunity to make friends with amazing bands from Mexico, Finland and Germany. The last one in Mexico City was just yesterday and it was really special for us as people really showed us love.

What was the biggest surprise on the music scene for you?
I have the impression that the extreme metal scene is growing even smaller in our hometown. I had to make a few trip to be able to catch bands within darker genres, not to mention the events that oftenly get canceled due to lack of audience like the one of October Tide we were going to participate in. For a band like us this will be something to continue to work on.

What is currently in your heavy musical rotation?
We’re very excited about the new Swallow The Sun material, looking forward to the whole record. I loved the new Winterfylleth album also. »Les Chants de l’Aurore« by Alcest. »Erebus« by Remina. And as always a lot of Evadne, Draconian, Trees Of Eternity.

What was the best advice you’ve ever been given as a musician?
Make music you love, create something for yourself, something that you would listen to, that is the easiest way to get to people liking it.

What are your guilty pleasures?
I believe there should be no guilty pleasures, I can freely talk of any music I like, but I think people would not guess I enjoy some kinds of music like Lil Peep and Suicide Boys or maybe Kali Uchis. The other members of the band also enjoy all sorts of music, Lieth loves some rancheras, also Paramore was mentioned when I asked them.

Can you say something more about current music scene in Guadalajara / Mexico?
The scene has its ups and downs. I try to go to as many concerts as I can afford or can make the time for. I’ve seen great bands in our home town Guadalajara but I also have seen a lot of great bands touring just not making it there. Either the event is canceled or sometimes our city is not even considered.

I believe however the underground local scene, although struggling, has been consistent throughout the years.

Where can we see you live this year (concerts/tours)?
We will be at our home city on October 19th celebrating the 8th anniversary of the Vulgar Topic podcast. We will be at Puebla on November 16th, we are very excited about this one as will be he headlining that event with some other great local bands.

What are your plans for the future as a band?
We are about to release the CD format of »From Light To Eternity«.

We want to make a few more shows within Mexico and hopefully in other parts of the world by next year. I´m already preparing some of the new material for what will be a second record but this may not see the light until 2026. In the meantime I’m considering releasing a single here and there before that.

How can people best support your band?
Just by listening to our music and sharing with your friends is great support for us already.

People can also visit our merch store evercloudshop.bigcartel.com or at Bandcamp, we have t-shirts, caps, the soon-to-be-released CD and more merch coming soon.

Do you have any message for your listeners?
All we do is for the love for music, for the trips in which a song, a verse or a series of notes can take you. We do this from the bottom of our heart. To all those who already know us, thank you so much. And to those who don’t, I’m sure more than one of you can find something to relate to in our music.
