The band Grindeye from Trier, Germany combines instrumental post-rock with metal, stoner and vibrating sludge sounds. All fans of powerful handmade music will find an alternative to an evening of armchair farting. Everything is possible when Grindeye are waving their instruments live – rocking out, diving in, chilling at the bar. The band’s energetic songs are convincing. A colorful mixture of atmospheric elements, dynamic guitar riffs and hypnotic heaviness.

From the ashes of their previous bands and with the will to break new musical ground, Martin Kahn and Peter Lenz founded the still nameless, purely instrumental band in spring 2015. Shortly afterwards, the formation was completed with bassist Andreas Olk and drummer Marco Säger. An internal joke led to the band being named Grindeye. This line-up recorded their first album »Coactus Mutare« in 2018.

Although being part of the post-rock/post-metal genre, Grindeye principally try to escape the homogeneous sound of the post-rock genre, which all too often relies on drone sounds and loud/quiet dynamics. Grindeye emphasise the rock in post-rock both in their songwriting and in their live performance!

»Coactus Mutare« is characterised by musical plot twists and only few recurring parts – no boredom, no pop structures! Stylistically, the listener can expect elements from various metal genres, such as stoner, black metal and sludge, but also parts that originate from alternative rock.

After several line-up changes on drums, a new permanent drummer was finally found in Christoph Traxel in August 2022. After a short familiarisation phase, characterised by set rehearsals of the first album, the band immediately turned their attention to songwriting. Grindeye embraces the different musical inclinations, styles and specialisms of the individual band members, who were all involved in the work on »Bloom«.

As a result, »Bloom« features plenty of guitar-based riffing, as well as diverse bass sounds and electronic drum pad parts that add more dynamics to the band’s sound. Many of the ingredients from the first album are still present on »Bloom«, but the additional spices are likely to surprise fans/listeners. »Bloom« will be released on April 26, 2024.
