Blazoner’s new covers EP »Sonic Chambers« began almost by accident. The trio of Andy Murray, Brian Carnes, and Stephen Sullivan walked into the studio intending to track a couple of songs purely for fun. They had been slipping covers into their live sets for a while, choosing favorites from across the spectrum of heavy rock, classic rock, prog, and anything else that spoke to them. Once they finished the first two recordings, the energy in the room made it clear that stopping there would have been impossible. They returned to the studio and finished what became a five song EP that highlights the full range of the group’s influences while still sounding unmistakably like Blazoner.
The opening track, »Jumpin’ Jack Flash« by The Rolling Stones, was one of Stephen’s picks. It is a song the band already loved playing live, so translating it into the studio felt natural. Their version leans harder and louder while keeping the spirit of the original intact, setting the tone for the EP. From there, Blazoner moves into »I’m In Love With My Car« by Queen, a deep cut the band has always loved. Andy sings the verses and all three members built dense harmony stacks for the choruses. They recorded so many vocal layers that they lost count, but the result became one of the most ambitious and rewarding moments of the project. Producer and engineer Jeff Covert, a longtime friend, played a big role in helping shape those arrangements.
The Genesis cover »In The Beginning« was Brian’s idea. He had always imagined a heavier version of the early Genesis track and suggested that Blazoner take it on. Because the band had already performed it at shows, the recording process came together quickly. Andy delivered strong drum tracks in just a few takes, and the guitars and bass were laid down soon after. Vocals proved the hardest part, pushing Brian into a range he does not usually sing, but the final performance exceeded expectations. Stephen and Andy contributed additional harmonies, and the intro maintains the psychedelic character of the original, expanded into a swirling, noisy soundscape guided by Covert’s production.

»Copache« by Melvins brought a different type of challenge. The band plays it frequently at shows and assumed it would be simple to record, but capturing its live energy inside a studio took time. After several attempts that didn’t quite feel right, they locked in with a click track to keep everything tight. At one point Covert stepped out from behind the console and pointed out that the parts were solid but not locking together. Once that issue clicked, the final take came quickly. Stephen suggested adding trippy vocal layers in the middle section, which the band then mirrored at the beginning to create a more atmospheric lead in. The finished version hits with the same chaotic excitement they bring to the song on stage.
The final track, »Travellin’ In The Dark« by Mountain, felt like a song that chose the band rather than the other way around. It taps into their love of classic progressive rock, vintage concept album storytelling, and expressive songwriting. Blazoner kept the arrangement mostly faithful while raising the tempo and weaving in more melodic lines on both guitar and vocals. The song became one of their favorites from the entire session, something both familiar and newly interpreted.
When the band stepped back and listened to everything in sequence, »Sonic Chambers« revealed itself as more than a quick studio experiment. It became a snapshot of the music that shaped them, filtered through the loud, intense, harmony driven identity they have built together. They had not planned to make an EP, but the excitement of the process carried them forward. »Sonic Chambers« stands as a celebration of influence, instinct, and the simple joy of creating something that feels alive.
About Blazoner:
Blazoner is a heavy rock power trio from Fredericksburg, Virginia, built on the belief that loud music should feel both massive and melodic. The band leans into thick, saturated riffs, driving rhythms, and vocal harmonies that hit as hard as the instruments behind them. Their sound blends the grit of stoner rock, the pulse of classic heavy rock, and the swirling textures of psychedelia, creating a style that feels raw, hook driven, and unmistakably their own.

Formed by Andy Murray, Brian Carnes, and Stephen Sullivan, Blazoner is powered by the natural chemistry the three share when they play together. Every member sings, which gives the band a vocal identity rarely found in heavy music. Whether delivering gritty leads or layered harmonies, the voices of all three members work together to add color and emotion to the band’s thick wall of sound. The result is a blend of heaviness and melody that stands out both live and on record.
Blazoner came out of the gate with a commitment to playing hard, writing often, and letting instinct lead the way. Since releasing their first music in 2023, the band has grown quickly through high energy performances that showcase their volume, intensity, and connection as performers. Crowds respond not only to the weight of the riffs and the immediacy of the songs, but also to the sense that the band is having as much fun onstage as anyone in the room.
Their music reflects a wide range of influences, yet everything is filtered through the same core approach. Play loud, play with purpose, and make songs that feel alive. Whether crafting originals or reimagining the tracks that shaped them, Blazoner focuses on movement, emotion, and the thrill of a great groove hitting at full power.
Blazoner continues to evolve as they write, record, and perform, always pushing toward a heavier, tighter, more expressive version of their sound. For the band, heavy music is more than a style. It is energy, teamwork, and a constant exploration of what three people can create when they trust every instinct and hold nothing back.
