Doomed Confessionary: Ricard (Proscrito)

Proscrito is a filthy death/doom metal trio from Sabadell, Spain. Formed in 2016, the band consists of Dani (bass, vocals), Ricard (guitar) and Gusi (drums), also active in other bands like Tort, Arropiero, Voidkush, Graveyard, Krossfyre, Morbid Flesh, Sanctuarium & more.
The crushing debut full-length »Llagas y Estigmas« by Proscrito was born from the ashes of the sloppier incarnation known as Calvario in 2016, paying homage to such acts as Cianide, Hellhammer/Celtic Frost, Necro Schizma, Asphyx, Autopsy, Paradise Lost, Winter, Samael and Goatlord. Following the band’s debut EP »El Calvario« (2017), »Llagas y Estigmas« was released on January 27th, 2020 via Memento Mori and Discos MeCagoEnDios.
Can you please say a few words about your band?
We are Proscrito, DEATH METAL, with the stress put in both terms, from Spain. We’ve been active for quite some time although human, all too human factors and perfectionism (as belligerent reaction to the cesspool of unworthy copycats and ego-boosting excuses the underground has become) have hindered our persistence. So far we have released a MLP and a full-length, we’ve undergone boring changes and now we’re working slowly but steadily on a second full-length that will rip you a new asshole. We have Bandcamp, a website and shit you’ll be able to find in no time.
What was the biggest challenge for the band?
Changing the entire line-up several times, living against the grain and emerging up stronger than ever – each dawn I die.
What can you be most proud of so far?
Of the newest album (yet to be completed and unleashed), undoubtedly the crystallization of our vision so far and a tribute to everything we revere and deem sacred; of the new line-up, which truly redefines Proscrito as a band name.
What was your biggest regret?
No remorse, no repent. Maybe a drink too many before a show.
What was the best concert/tour so far and why?
The best concert was our last (still with the previous line-up) in Madrid along with Simón del Desierto, shortly before the Chinese flu struck; we had a blast playing in Zaragoza the night before, we were surrounded by f(r)iends and trusted individuals who have always been hell-bent with us, the chemistry/chemical exposure was right and all the numbers were up. The best tour is yet to happen.
What was the biggest surprise on the music scene for you?
Rush, of all bands, hiring a chick to play drums.

What is currently in your heavy musical rotation?
Currently revisiting everything Abscess (GODS) have put out while simultaneously checking all the post-reunion Autopsy albums. Also coming back to the Immolation releases from »Harnessing Ruin« on, to pave the way to the new album. Other than that, I’m always scoring Throneum and Bizarre Uproar stuff, so more often than not you’ll find them here.
What was the best advice you’ve ever been given as a musician?
All knobs to the right.
What are your guilty pleasures?
So this is where you say Pink Floyd, Depeche Mode, The Cure, Death In June and all the safe words, right? Well, we don’t care about etiquette nor give two fukks about scene credit in general so guilt to be found here, but we love hard rock and AOR, some are big on Bryan Adams, and I tend to listen to a big array of different genres (either musical or antimusical, acceptable or otherwise), being a big Pixies fan, for starters, so there you go.
Can you say something more about the current music scene in Catalonia / Spain?
There are many bands, most of them crap that couldn’t put my old records to sleep for a while, let alone grant repeated listens. Among the true ones, my favourites are Oniricous, Apparition, Purulent Remains, Estenosis, Atonement, Morbid Flesh, Lex Luciferi and Horrible.
Where can we see you live this year (concerts/tours)?
Nothing planned as of now, but the worst is yet to come.
What are your plans for the future as a band?
Give our album the final touches and hit the road to live up to all the r’n’r clichés while delivering the goods.
How can people best support your band?
Slicing their veins to the records and puking over themselves at the shows.
Do you have any message for your listeners?
Stop supporting and feel the fire instead. If we manage to avoid the usual larger-than-life struggles, expect noise coming from our end this 2026. Buy everything with the Voïvod logo stamped on it.
