Doomed Confessionary: Triste

Triste is a death/doom metal band from Stuttgart, Germany. Featuring members of Moribund Mantras, Discommand, Vordt, Yonder, Sedhate & more.

Triste’s debut album »Scapegoats« dropped on February 15th, 2024 via Coldvalley Cultists. It was recorded in December 2023. It is combining the heaviness of death metal, the darkness of doom and the aggressiveness of sludge and crust punk. Low guitars, deep growls and an hammering doublebase is the ventricle of our music. The lyrics turn on reality horror. Somewhere between the style of Bolt Thrower and Primitive Man.

Can you say a few words about your band?
Triste is a four-piece band from South Germany that was founded to catch the oldschool death/doom vibe and bring in a bit more variation and aggression into the music. In the beginning we started off as an studio project. Our singer wants to portray reality horror in the music because he is so tired of the non political fantasy type of bands that try to act angry and hard. Hell is here, not in afterlife.

What was the biggest challenge for the band last year?
To find a new bassist. Our old friend Sunny has luckily jumped in.

What can you be most proud of so far?
The feedback we gained for our new album was really good. Lots of people also seem to understand the idea behind our music.

What was your biggest regret?
Not started playing music at an younger age. But otherwise, some of us would be already dead in this case.

What was the best concert/tour last year and why?
Our first concert took place in an diy skatepark in the bushes of Stuttgart. No entry. Lots of people were there, the weather was awesome and we got really wasted. Best of times.

What was the biggest surprise on the music scene for you?
The international support in the diy scene is really cool. Back in the day when we started with our first real band (crust punk) this really kept us motivated to get really into it.

What is currently in your heavy musical rotation?
Ossuary – »Supreme Degradation«, His Hero Is Gone – »Fifteen Counts of Arson«, Meth Drinker – self-titled, Nightfell – »A Sanity Deranged«.

Can you say something more about the music scene in Stuttgart?
Some good dedicated people. Especially when it comes to grindcore/powerviolence. There are also older people that only support each others bands. Which some kind of kills of the scene in some way. There are also younger people that never want to play as opener and therefor “have reasons” that they can’t play early. Luckily there are still some cool active people out there. Shame on us for not setting up shows more regularly.

Where can we see you live this year (concerts/tours)?
In 2024 we will play shows in Switzerland, Austria and south Germany. We don’t want to give details because there some things in limbo. But you can check Bandcamp for information about our next shows.

What are your plans for the future as a band?
Maybe we will release the »Scapegoats« album on vinyl. We are still searching a second label that wants to co-release. We also started to write new songs. But our focus is on playing cool underground shows.

How can people best support your band?
Spread our album online. Its for free download. Set up shows. We play for gasmoney and good food.

Do you have any message for your listeners?
Support your local scene. Go to shows. Less consume, more headbanging. Smash fascism.
