Doomed Confessionary: Y. Shatzmiller (BaRaTi)

Hailing from Israel, BaRaTi is a hard-hitting grunge/stoner rock trio that emerged from the sun-baked landscapes where the desert meets the city. Consisting of Tal Leshetz (drums), Guy BenAmi (guitar, vocals) and Y. Shatzmiller (bass, vocals), BaRaTi just dropped their self-titled debut album on March 3rd, 2025.
This powerhouse band crafts a unique sonic experience, blending the raw energy of heavy riff-driven rock with the hypnotic, fuzz-laden grooves of desert stoner rock. BaRaTi’s sound is as vast and untamed as the landscapes they hail from – each note drenched in the gritty spirit of rebellion and the rugged beauty of their surroundings.
At the core of BaRaTi’s music lies an intricate fusion of thunderous rhythms, evocative melodies, and gritty instrumentation. With their signature heavy guitar riffs, deep, pulsating basslines, and relentless, pounding drums, they transport listeners into a sonic landscape that’s both familiar and otherworldly. The band’s influence draws from the towering legends of stoner rock, while creating something distinctly their own – an intoxicating blend of desert mysticism and raw, unfiltered power.
Can you say a few words about your band?
Thundering, desert, rock tio. Fusing grunge & stoner and alternative rock from Israel.
What was the biggest challenge for the band?
Well, we’re all over 40y old, and started playing around 3 years ago. So just to coordinate a session between life and careers is a challenge.
The other big challenge I think would be trying to break through the scene and getting our music heard.
We try to be on social media and do our best.
What can you be most proud of so far?
Our self-titled debut album is for sure the best thing we did as a band.
It’s been a big challenge, and we made it with a very short budget, but turned out great. Have a listen.
What was your biggest regret?
We regret we didn’t come more focused to a big gig we had around a year ago. Took us a bit to bounce back.
What was the best concert/tour so far and why?
As we are playing locally only, we had an awesome show at our home town about a year and a half ago.
Everyone came and rocked with us. We plan to have our album release show there as well. Shout out to “Babity Pub”.
What was the biggest surprise on the music scene for you?
You know, the more I get into it, the more I discover amazing new bands. I think the biggest surprise is how much great music is out there. Seriously, it’s infinite.
What is currently in your heavy musical rotation?
Oh man, 1000mods, Kal-El, Conan, All Them Witches, The Great Machine, Uncle Acid & The Deadbeats, etc.
What was the best advice you’ve ever been given as a musician?
The Power Of The One.
What are your guilty pleasures?
A double cheeseburger, fries & coke.
Can you say something more about the current music scene in Israel?
Israel is a tiny country so imagine how tiny the underground rock scene is 🙂
With that said, there are some really talented musicians here that need to be put on the spotlight.
Where can we see you live this year (concerts/tours)?
We play locally every month or so in various bars, so we are open to any suggestions. Check us out on social media for updates.
What are your plans for the future as a band?
We got two wicked singles on the way that we played at our shows and an EP. We’re also looking for a record label, as we released all our music independently.
How can people best support your band?
Spread the word, follow on social media, buy on Bandcamp, donate through Paypal.
Do you have any message for your listeners?
Hope our album touches your mind, body and soul. And if it did, please spread it on.
