Doomed Confessionary: David Edgar (Superseed)

Superseed crashed into existence in Bristol, UK in early 2017, a four-man juggernaut fueled by the twin-engine roar of singer-guitarists David Edgar and Ben Taylor. Backed by the thunderous pulse of Matt Colley on drums and Keith Bowers’ bass laying down a filthy groove, this hard-rocking wrecking crew delivers a sonic gut-punch that demands attention.
Weaving a gritty tapestry of hard rock muscle, garage-punk snarl, post-punk edge and a stoner fuzz haze, Superseed channels the raw energy of MC5, the desert groove of Queens Of The Stone Age, the doom of Black Sabbath and the snarl of the Sex Pistols into a sound that’s all their own: massive riffs, killer hooks, and melodies that stick like napalm.
Since their self-titled debut album Superseed dropped in 2019, they’ve torn up stages across the UK, leaving a trail of sweat-soaked gigs and festival triumphs. Now, Superseed are gearing up to unleash their next beast, »Tremor«, on August 1st, 2025 via Savage Magic Records. Cooked up in their DIY garage studio, Freq Factory, this album promises to crank the intensity to eleven and solidify their reign as face-melting rock renegades.
Can you please say a few words about your band?
We are a group of five mates from various local bands from Bristol, England that decided to join together in 2017 to make a loud and hard rockin’ racket. We release our new album »Tremor« on Bandcamp Friday 1st August.
What was the biggest challenge for the band?
Like a lot of bands at our level, I think the various lockdowns we had during the global pandemic was one of the biggest challenges for the band. We had recently released our debut album, started to build momentum and had a decent run of gigs lined up when all of a sudden covid struck and everything was cancelled. This was a hard time for the band for various reasons but we stuck together and made a start on writing material for this new album.
What can you be most proud of so far?
I’m proud of the fact that after 30+ years of playing music, I still get to kick out the jams and have a laugh with my best mates.
What is your biggest regret?
My biggest regret is that I have more hair on my face than I do on my head.
What was the best concert/tour so far and why?
Playing at the Giants of Rock festival at Butlins in Minehead and Doom vs Stoner in Sheffield as both gigs were rammed and the crowd loved the seed.
What was the biggest surprise on the music scene for you?
That our old guitarist Dan decided to rejoin the band AFTER we spent about 5 years making this album 😀
What is currently in your heavy musical rotation?
Green Lung – Woodland Rites
Slomosa – Tundra Rock
Sepultura – Chaos AD
Black Sabbath – Technical Ecstasy

What was the best advice you’ve ever been given as a musician?
Drop the covers and stick with your own songs.
What are your guilty pleasures?
Ghost (band) & Neighbours (TV show).
Can you say something more about the current music scene in the UK?
A good friend of mine started Civil War – a music collective which does great things for bands of a stoner/alt rock/grunge ilk. They put on excellent nights of bands in London and release compilation albums. Check them out here https://www.civilwarlondon.com.
Where can we see you live this year (concerts/tours)?
Saturday 13th September – Civil War All Dayer, The Black Heart, London
Thursday 18th September – King Arthur, Glastonbury
Friday 17th October – Tremor Album Launch Party – Chelsea Inn, Bristol
What are your plans for the future as a band?
We plan to gig hard and sell as many albums as we can!
How can people best support your band?
Go to our Bandcamp on Friday 1st August and buy our album on tasty vinyl, CD or digital along with a very nice T-shirt.
Do you have any message for your listeners?
Thanks for sticking with us and supporting us for all these years. We hope you love the new album!
