Italian heavy rock’n’roll trio Sonic Wolves has recently signed with Argonauta Records to release their third full-length album, titled »III«.

Known for their heavy, dark, and gritty sound, Sonic Wolves draws inspiration from 70’s hard rock, proto-metal, psychedelic rock, and blues, paying homage to Motörhead and Metallica while infusing a fresh and bold approach. Since their activities began in 2015, Sonic Wolves has played across Italy and Europe, gracing festivals like Desertfest and more.

Vita and Kayt Vigil bring extensive experience, with guitarist Nico Nigro adding a new dimension to their evolving sound. Together, they continue to push boundaries, delivering powerful compositions that resonate with their audience.

Can you say a few words about your band?
The band was formed in 2012 as Tsutar by Kayt (bass/vocals) and Vita (drums). After a line up change in 2014, the name was switched to Sonic Wolves. So far the band released two full-lengths, two 7” singles and a 12” EP. In July 2022 Nico joined the band on guitar and this line up recorded the third album, called »III«, which will be released in early 2024 by Argonauta Records.

What was the biggest challenge for the band this year?
When Nico joined Sonic Wolves, Kayt started to have a serious carpal tunnel problem in her left hand. We had to work on the songs for the new album but she was in real pain, so we could neither play live nor practice the way we’re supposed to. Kayt’s surgery was scheduled in early March 2023 and the biggest challenge for us was to get into the studio to record the album before her surgery. We did it.

What can you be most proud of this year?
We are most proud of our newest and third album which consists of songs that were composed before Nico was in the band and other re-vamped tracks from Nico’s old band demo. The reason it makes us proud is because we bonded with each other so well that it felt natural working on the project and playing together. We found it easy no matter what and that’s something else to be proud of.

What was your biggest regret?
We wouldn’t necessarily use the word regret, but in early 2023 the band wasn’t happy that Kayt was in pain, unfortunately that situation slowed our plans down a bit, but she was great in studio despite that, she nailed it and we made it.

What was the best concert/tour this year and why?
It was at Trai Against The Machine festival, last December 2nd at Bloom near Milano. It was a honor to play on such import venue with 56 bands who shared two stages in three days. The meaning of the festival was to celebrate the 20th anniversary of Trai Studio, where we recorded 2 albums and the EP thanks to our friend Fabio “Trai” Intraina.

What was the biggest surprise on the music scene for you?
The surprise is not really for us but for all those musicians and people who persist saying that rock’n’roll is dead. Rock’n’roll is in the flesh and it will never die, no matter what they do or say.

Where can we see you live next year (concerts/tours)?
We’ll play the last show of 2023 this December 23rd in Torino, then on January 26th we’ll be in Erba (CO) at Centrale Rock Pub. The next day we’ll be hosted at Bang Bang Radio (an Italian web radio based in Lodi) for a 20 minutes live show followed by a live interview. Then we are working on some shows and possibly a tour in Spring 2024.

What are your plans for the next year as a band? What do you personally want the most?
What we want the most for 2024 is to play on stage and record the new songs for the next Sonic Wolves release. We already have enough material that we could release the fourth and the fifth album together. Actually three of those songs are already on our live setlist.

Do you already know what are you doing on New Year’s Eve?
Not that much, usually on New Year’s Eve we have dinner at home with a couple of friends or we go to some friend’s house, we prefer that way so we can celebrate in peace. We also have pets so we want to spend the night with them because of fireworks, so they don’t fear that too much.

How can people best support your band?
The best way to support a band is buying merch and records straight from their own page/website, or even better from their merch table at shows. Many people complain about the cost of big band events, but they buy the ticket anyway and go every time bigger bands show up with a new tour. It’s not to say that they shouldn’t do that at all, but to remember that great music doesn’t only come from huge bands. There’s a vibrant underground scene, but it still needs support, and money spent there can go a long way to help. Always remember that every big band, with a few exceptions, started from the underground scene.

Do you have any message for your listeners?
We are grateful to have such great fans and we want to thank all of them for supporting Sonic Wolves. Musicians would be nothing without music fans. So, thanks to everyone for the support!
