This album is a gracious tribute to Ridley Scott’s gloomy vision of mankinds future in »Blade Runner« and the novel on which the film is based of, »Do Androids Dream Of Electric Sheep?« by Phillip K. Dick.

The songs are loosely based on the universe underlying the film and novel with more or less precise allusions to it.

»Neon Dusk« describes a city as Ridley Scott portrayed it: gloom only broken by artificial neon lights that illuminate the pale faces of its residents.

»Nexus X« is about the process of creating a perfect, artificial human and the consequences of this “dehumanization” for those affected.

»Rise Of The Replicants« reflects the thoughts of such a “dehumanized”, artificial human.

Written, recorded, mixed and mastered by AASB from early 2020 till early 2024.

AASB stands for As Above, So Below and since two years it is a two man project. They began around 2018 with four members with the idea of making melodic funeral doom in the style of Mournful Congregation, Bell Witch and Ahab.

After around two years of working on a big song monolith (which still isn’t finished yet…), the songwriting process stagnated. AASB brushed this monolith aside for later an began writing new songs.

These new songs had quite a different sound compared to the previous monolith. Suddenly there was a lot of synth and effects. The sound was so different, that AASB came up with the idea to change the bandtheme from themes like hermeticism and philosophy to themes like science fiction, artificial intelligence and dystopian future visions.

But with time came more changes… AASB lost two members (drums, bass/vocals) and the band became to a two-man-project with two guitar/synth players. The loss of two members forced them to be really creative for still doing rehearsals and to try vocals on their own!

But in the end, AASB managed both in their own way!
