A dark and dreary sound with a focus on heavy riffs, and a gloomy atmosphere, accompanied by haunting lyrics and vocal style has been the goal of the one-man band hailing from Sweden, on the island of Hönö right outside of Gothenburg.

Inspired by epic and traditional doom metal bands such as Candlemass, Solitude Aeturnus, Trouble, among other great metal acts of whose influence can be heard through the music, and was apparent for new fans since the beginning of the debut EP in 2022. What originally started as a few jumbled musical ideas with no goal in mind, quickly became something with a life of its own, after lighting a spark within. Though hints of the aforementioned influences can always be heard, Grim Colossus is growing more and more into it’s own sound and identity for every new release.

»Descent Into Madness«, with a runtime of 31 minutes across 7 tracks, follows the journey of a man who after his studies of evil, and readings of forbidden occult writings, is haunted by wicked entities whenever he closes his eyes. Grown sick of the terrible visions he sees in his nightmares, the unnamed man must go on an expediton into the deepest, darkest of jungles far away from any other civilization, where a tomb rests. A burial ground which keep the secrets to his life – as detailed in some of his findings in an ancient tome that tell the tales of good and evil, other worlds, and forbidden knowledge that should not be known.

This tomb is not just a place of rest for the dead however, but also the life of things we could not ever believe, until it is seen. Demons and angels that represent our past, present and future. Joined by other beings with faces so disturbing one can barely stand to look at, yet they strike the man with feelings of unsettling familiarity.

Down the steep, stygian staircase hidden within, that lead into the alternate dimension only known as the dreamworld.. You must wander through the blinding blackness until the point of excruciating exhaustion, where you eventually reach an ethereal state between conciousness, and a dreamlike state. The world that hide our traumas and emotions of regret, worry, anger and pain. The man must battle the demons that hide deep within him, but will he succeed? Or must he accept defeat, and forever succumb to the darkness that have fostered inside of his mind?
